Few visitors leave the beach side area of Balatonfured to look at the old town, and this is not really surprising as there is not much to see, and what there is to see the Town Council does not do anything to promote. But the market is worth a visit. It is a covered building, with a potter who works on the spot and who sells attractive locally-made goods. She speaks some English. There are hand made cheeses and very good fruit and veg stalls. if you go on Saturday morning there is a little outdoor market including stalls selling second hand goods. Excellent coffee bar at the far end which also sells (they run out quickly) fresh filled rolls. This is closed on Mondays. If you go on Saturday then combine it with a trip to Tihany peninsular market which offers much more scope for a visit - nevertheless this is a nice local place and we go weekly. We live here. The interior of the big red twin-towered church next to the market is rather more interesting than it looks from the outside, and the town boasts many beautiful old villas. That's really all you can say about Fured old town.

A vásárcsarnok elsősorban élelmiszer piac ahol a minőségi termékekből válogathatunk.
Friss zöldségek, jó hús, meleg kenyér, Olasz kv, házias ételek. Minden egy helyen,
Tiszta kulturált környezetben, nagy parkolóval.

The city market that place where you can find high quality cheese, meat, fish, vegetables and fruits.
There is a good cafe where you can eat fresh bakery, cakes and drink delicious italian coffee.
It is clear and cultured and has a big park place.

On a day trip around lake Balaton we arrived just after visiting Siofok. What a contrast. Balatonfured is quiet and sophisticated with lovely clean streets, interesting shops and city market, a well maintained shoreline walk, pretty park and lots of flowers, good yacht harbour, interesting fountains and good restaurants. My type of place.

Fresh groceries, fish and meat, flowers, kind locals, less tourist. But to compare, farmers' market in Veszprém is cheaper than this one.

When we are in Hungary visiting relatives, we visit the market almost daily to pick up things for ourselves or the family dinners, etc. They offer every kind of produce, meats, cheeses, flower, house-hold items nd baked goods, in addition to pottery and local hand-made items. We always find candy and small trinkets and gifts that are perfect souvenirs. This time, I even found a Kurtus Kalacs roller to take home with me. My husband found a beautiful hand-made pottery palinka jug.

Nothing better than a market of local fresh produce, selling cheese, wine, meat, eggs, and of course fruit and veg. There are other stalls selling brick and brac. We visited a few times and noticed you have the daily stalls and some pitches had different people selling different things so do go on different days if you can.

If you're looking for something a little different to what the discounters have to offer, you can get very fresh and excellent products here. I was very pleasantly surprised by the variety - and since I had a vacation apartment and not a hotel, I was able to cook in the evenings. That was more fun with the ingredients from here. Parking right next door.
