In the special museum are displayed diving helmets, pump, diving equipment, submarine models, uniforms.. All the displayed objects will show you the underwater life of our ancestor. I enyojed this museum very much. Particularly the port building exhibit and the diving bell section. I recommend to visit the museum to all people who are interested in maritime history. I have had a special chance to learn and see for the first time the history of diving from the beginning up to modern times. It is a special exhibition about a rarely treated marine topic. Love it!
Special thanks goes to Doris for excellent guided tour.

As the operator of my own underwater Youtube channel (H2O Explorers) I couldn´t resist to give this place a visit. I was really impressed by all this old style equipment. I wish I could use those from time to time as well...

I liked museum with so many old diving suits and equipment. I was even lucky to see how this old things work in reality! On special occasions they perform a dive in to the nearby sea! Unique event!

We didn’t even enter becouse the darkness and the bad smell of the place scared us. Extremely unpleasant experience with the staff when they did not want to return the ticket money. She didn’t let me look inside to decide if it was appropriate or worth a visit. Well obviously not appropriate for children.

Just two rooms near the port for small boats are changed to a storehouse of old suits for diving. It is very interesting for divers and technicians. Something is missing for general public. Price is high (Maritime museum has far lower prices for more history and several floors of presentation.)

Firstly our visit to this museum was purely accidental as we mistook it for the Maritime Museum.
We paid a relatively steep fee of 4.50 euro each for a single story two room museum. We were also told that we were allowed to take one photo each. It was a small but interesting museum that first went through the development of diving and techniques from the late 19th C. There were helmets and diving suits from the 20th C. There was also a history on the development of the diving bell. The second half focused on the war efforts including the construction and activity of submarines which were based in the area and some of which were built in Slovenia or Croatia. It then went on to post war diving applications including ship building and bridge building and the development of a local diving school. Local divers became sought after for their skills. It was a small little museum and sections of it smelt old like the sea. Not bad for a short visit.

A large collection of scaphanders and its development through the dive history. A good representation of live and work under the sea. There is also a section regarding the submarine life in different navies.

Being a PADI diving instructor myself it was a surprise to discover this museum about the history of diving in Slovenia and the activities of Slovenian divers in Slovenia and abroad. If you are a diver or you like the films made by Jacques Cousteau you should visit this museum. Although it’s a very small museum there is a lot to see. The displays are very informative and in three languages: English, Italian and Slovenian. The museum is situated next to the beautiful harbour of Piran.
