This should be the first stop for every visitor of Piran! Cultural center and a multimedia museum is located close to Tartini square. Here you can learn how Piran was bult, developed, which famous persons lived there .... The building itself is also interesting - old stone wals, vaulted cellar na there is the original "shame pillar", which replica you can see near the Aquarium. With all this knowladge it is much more interesting to walk around the old town, knowing how it used to look

There isn't much to this museum, but what's there is interesting. Several touch screens are mounted around the room with videos and/or text about various aspects of Piran's history, including the town wall, salt flats, and how the various governments worked. There are also archaeological trenches with glass over top so you can walk over them, and a lower level where you can walk into the trench. The trenches are only labeled in Slovenian and Italian, but the rest of the displays are in multiple languages each, including English, German, Italian, Russian and Slovenian. Upstairs is a 3-D movie about Piran's history. It lasts about 15 minutes and is a nice, basic overview of what was said downstairs.
The movie would have been fine for young children but the rest of the exhibition not so much-- too much reading! They did have a toddler table with crayons and paper for very little ones--it was a bit random, but sweet that somebody made an effort to entertain the smallest visitors.

A great way to learn about the development of the city of Piran, in an entertaining way. Short media presentation gives a background of the culture and history on this lovely coastal city. Posters and interactive materials throughout. Recommended.

Thank you so much for a great visit to your museum. It always feels good to learn more about the place you visit, and Piran is really a historical pearl reflecting European history ages back. Well presented in the Mediadom Pyrhani. Recommended to all visitors of Piran.

We are not regular visitors to museums at all, but what we do like are small, well considered, interesting and informative little places like this.
Firstly the place is hidden away up a tiny little traditional street behind the main square, but then upon entry you are firstly met with a cool, modern and extremely well designed and attractive interior, then secondly the smiling face of the really friendly and helpful lady on the desk. The entry cost was minimal, and the lady spoke beautiful English and proceeded to proudly explain how the museum works with its interactive nature and the route to follow.
The touch screens around the main room are really good and give as much or as little information as you desire, there are steps down into part of the ancient underground tunnels and then on the top floor you are treated to a 3D cinematic experience showing you how Piran came into existence right up to the current day.
The place is only small, but the way the screens work mean you can go round at a pace that suits you. Stuffy museums are not for us, but this place really works!
We loved our visit here and would highly recommend it.

Lovely little museum showcasing Piran's history. We loved the excellent architectural restoration that is simpathetically unveiling archeological finds within the building. And last but not least: a fun 3D movie on Piran's history was a hit with the whole family!

This sparkling new high tech display of Piran's history deserves to be discovered by more visitors. It's probably old news to the crowds of Slovenes who come to Piran for a dip in the Adriatic, but if it's your first trip here, it's a great way to learn the history of this charming town. There's a holographic monk greeting you in a display of the underground tunnels linking the old churches and monasteries and you'll see your own face imposed on an ancient stone pillar. We were the only people in the theater for the 3D film and the friendly woman at the door started it in English when we were ready. Lots of interactive touch screens for those who want to read more. Bring ID to get the student or senior discount ticket for 3€, regular admission is 5€. Giving it 5 stars because it needs a little love from the traveling public.

The museum is an interactive one. You have screens where you can read and select what you like to know and a 3D movie that explains the history of the town.
In the museum you can see how did in the old days people cool they wine and food (sellers under the surface).

A great visual history and interactive venue describing life througout the centuries in Piran. A wonderful 3 D cinema showing a film about Piran. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff who I could talk to for hours.
