About
The cathedral bell tower has In the bell tower a fire watch was organized until 1933. There was a little apartment at the top of the tower. The ECOC has in 2012, together with the Maribor Regional Museum, set up a museum collection ''The Guardroom on the tower'', which is easily accessible by climbing 162 steps. At the top of the tower is also an outdoor viewing platform, from where the old town and surroundings can be seen.

Maribor has one of the best attractions in the middle of the city. It is Bell tower and little museum of watch station on the top of it. It is open in the main season. You need to climb up over 160 steps. On the top you have perfect view around the Maribor and some helpful descriptions on panels. Little museum is dedicated to the guards – fire protectors. They lived and worked there to protect the city in case of fires and to announce danger if they saw any smoke or fire in the city area.

As we wisit a lot of things when abroad, it would be rude not to do so in your own town. The entrence was free, and the climb was not hard at all. The stairs are quite narrow, but that is to be expected - you are in a tower after all. At the top - a small appartment for the fire guard, who used to keep watch for fires in Maribor, and a stunning view of the city.
Would reccomend to anyone.

A great view just above the roofs on to the old part and city center. Beautiful surroundings with hills and Pohorje mountain. A camera or mobile phone is must. For some people could be 160 stairs an obstacle. A woman was last fire-watcher until 1933. At full hour are tower bells fully in action. Worth a visit!

In medieval days Maribor Cathedral Bell Tower was used as a fire observation platform (protection against devastating fires). It is accessible only if you have healthy lungs (over 150 steps) but the view is worth it. On the top there is a small museum and also the "wish bell" (I don't promise about functionality ;-)

Located in the middle of the town, there is no entrence fee although you can give voluntary contribution. 160 steps which are not for not for those with heart condition or clumsy ones. Viee is amazing and you can get outside and ring the small bell. Really , really beautiful (inner) experience for me,especially since I fear heights.

A pretty stiff climb up a narrow staircase but the view from the top is excellent over the town. It used to be a watch tower and there is still a small room at the top to accommodate the watchman.

Learn the history of the watch-woman while visiting her flat atop of the Bell Tower. Enjoy the view catching a breeze and make a wish by ringing the bell on the top.

The cathedral and tower rise up over the town and are well with a visit. Remarkably well kept and maintained.

Church tower with small apartment for fireman, who observed town and raised alarm when spotted smoke or fire. Really interesting! Great view.
