About
The Old Vine, the oldest vine in the world, resides in Maribor right at the centre of the old town. The Old Vine, with an age that spans over 400 years, won its place into the Guinness World Records by being the oldest noble vine in the world still bearing grapes; there is no room for doubt about this as experts have confirmed that it is indeed the oldest! From its clusters come the Žametovka, also known as Blaufränkisch, a variety of grape which masters annually squeeze for its precious juice. The Old Vine symbolizes the rich wine culture of Maribor and Slovenia, and finally the entire world. Today, descendants of this great vine are grown almost all over the world. A lot of symbolism Let the Old Vine tell you her story; this venerable lady speaks of wine, resilience, and life energy. Let yourself be inspired by its immense power, both symbolically and with the energy from the fruit of its sisters.

We bought fantastic slovenia orange wine, after a little wine-tasting with a very good advice from the staff. Great experience.

We walked to old vine house early in the morning and this sight was mesmerising. Looking at the oldest grapevine in the world was surely a spectre to remember.
Sipping hot coffee by the lake, on this chilly October morning, overlooking the grapevine was like a trip to an era gone by.
The wine produced from these grapes is Nobel and would never be seen on one of the racks in Walmart’s liquor isles. Well, it’s presented to the most high ranking figures of other nations.

I simply love The Old Vine tree and The Old Vine House. I'm local and I still visit 2-3 times a year. The best way to visit is to do the wine degustation and listen to the wine stories to go along.

This is all about visiting the worlds (allegedly) oldest vine - and the place is cerainly worth a visit if nearby.
It is a lovely building (although not 400 years old!) and it is set in a pleasant location beside the river with a cafe nearby. There are plenty of tourists nearby so sometimes hard to get a full photo.
Worth a visit.

The Old Vine house is a great place to stop for wine amateurs. The service is amazing and you have a lot of information about this particular wine region. Good amount of different wine to try.

This is the museum of the oldest vine in the world. Besides a museum, there's also wine tasting available.

For such a place We expected better service and better trained staff. They do speak english, and know basics but do not ask them anything.
