This beautiful building is a fine example of the Art Nouveau architecture of Ljubljana. The colourful exterior reminded me of Casa Vicen of Barcelona designed by Antoni Gaudi, himself one of the greatest exponents of Modernisme. If you have time, it’s worth wandering in for a quick look too. Inside is a glass ceiling made up of small blue glass squares, with decorative strips of coloured glass embedded. Light enters the interiors through coloured stained-glass windows in geometric motifs.

Ljubljana boasts of a number of beautiful Art Deco buildings, the Cooperative Bank is probably the most photographed. Still, it’s near the city centre so it’s worth a stroll there to take a snap.

Of all the art nouveau buildings in downtown Ljubljana this is the most decorative.
It is also the one the most represents a unique Slovenian twist on art nouveau.
The architect, Ivan Vurnik, studied the Viennese secessionist style of art nouveau and then made it Slovenien by mixing in rural folk design and colors.

Just a block north of triple bridge up the right side of the Franciscan church.

one of the most interesting exterior of buildings in the old town. Worth a walk along Miklosiceva street to admire it and take some pics. Unfortunately it is not a museum.

When it was build it must have been the best looking building in Ljubljana and still is. Architects are now designing simle buildings since they acll ths modern but there is a problem of knowledge and style. Ths building was built from knowledge and with style.

The Bank isn’t far away from Preseren square. If you walk on Miklosiceva street next to the Franciscan Church, you reach this exquisite building after a short stroll. You also can say, “Nomen est omen”, since the Cooperative Business Bank building was born from the cooperation of two talented artists, Ivan Vurnik, and his wife, Helena. The house was designed by the architect Vurnik, but for the decorations his wife Helena was responsible. Unfortunately, you can admire the edifice only from outside, since visitors aren’t allowed to go inside. Helena made the paintings in the Slovenian national colors, blue, white, and red, and the geometric motives are mixed with elements of Slovenian iconography. With its brightly colored wall, the bank stands out from the surrounding buildings.

The Vurnik house or the former Cooperative Commercial Bank on Miklošičeva Street is one of the most famous Ljubljana buildings. It was built by the architect Ivan Vurnik in 1921 and it is considered one of the most beautiful examples of the architecture of the national style. It is across the street from the Union Hotel and steps away from Preseren Square. It is a beauty!!!
