Not much was happening during our visit late in the afternoon; however, the graffiti and art work should not be missed. Apparently the area once consisted of former army barracks and now is an alternative culture community. It's touted as a great after-dark venue; however, we didn't see that. Instead, it was a safe walk to see unusual art.

How much you like Metelkova is a function of how much you appreciate alternative art/lifestyle. We walked over one afternoon. From the city center, it's a little more than a mile away, so it's a good long walk on a nice day. The style of the art is alternative/found art type stuff. They take things that other people would consider... More

My teenage daughter wanted to visit it to get some inspiration from the graffitis. She got plenty! I was stunned by the amount of art condensed in threre, everywhere you look there is something that catches your eye. Worth spending 30min in there.

.. yet Metelkova is an interesting alternative life-styles community. Street art is fascinatingly creative, drinks flow and folks are fun to hang out with. A very inspiring place, if you are an open, creative minded adult, traveling with teenagers.

Visited late afternoon and found a deserted wasteland/hippy commune. Nothing open but the art, etc interesting and worthy of more. If marketed as a tourist attraction then why not make it inviting instead a sense of unease that intruding or is that the point - you decide.

There's not much to be said for Ljubljana's night life - it's pretty dull. Metelkova makes up for that. A few makeshift clubs and bars, but the party pours out onto the street too. Drinks are cheap, crowd is generally early 20s and the place is pretty alive right through the night. Wouldn't go out of my way again to... More

On the outskirts of the city, by the train station, some might be a little put of. However, Metelkova is worth a visit especially in the evening when it is quite animated. Sundays are quiet - for obvious reasons but the weekends are lively. If you ever don't feel confortable there, just go to the bar next door on the... More
