Spent 2 evenings here having dinner. Plenty of restaurants opposite the exquisite symphony hall and various old buildings. An anchor is the centrepiece. Busy but still quiet in the evening as the sun goes down.

We liked sitting here and people watching until 4 different characters walked up (different times) asking for money. I understand they are not as fortunate and am not judging. Just know that you will be approached. Otherwise- the large trees and benches make a cool place to rest in the middle of a hot day.

This square is really nice. It is large, in the middle of the city, with view on the Castle and there is a shaded garden. The architecture and old building are surrounding it. In summer there is a stage with concerts and shows.

This park has a wonderful parking garage under it which is great as you cannot take your car into the old town city. So park here and enjoy a beautiful park before crossing the triple bridge into the most beautiful city.

The town is compact and this is a pleasant square in which to while some time away with some eateries close to hand.

I found this lovely Square when visiting the Museum of Illusions. It is about two minutes walk from the Triple Bridge and roughly behind the Franciscan Church.

It has been beautifully renovated within the last few years and, with a tree-lined park to one side, it is surrounded by lovely buildings in different architectural styles - the Ursuline Church of the Holy Trinity is a beautiful Baroque building and there are also Neo-classical and (I think) Art Nouveau facades.

The University building is close by so there were a lot of Students in the Square giving it, as in Preseren Square, a young vibe but, being a large open space, it was very peaceful and there is a good view of the Castle.

This place is great to rest, read a book, enjoy the beat of Ljubljana. It is in the city center covered with trees and grass where you can just sit and lift your legs from the site seeing or shopping. There is a market vis-a-vis where you can just buy some sandwiches and make a picnic in the park to avoid spending in the restaurants.

You will not miss this one! You can see it easily from the castle and it is a very large square indeed. Around it you can see the Academia Philharmonicorum, the University building, the impressive Ursuline Church and the statue of the Roman Patrician. Indeed there are remains of Roman walls in the vicinity. Well worth a visit.

This is the first square we encountered after walking up from our hotel. Theres so much history all around and beautiful Architecture. The fact that you can see the castle on the hill gives it even more charm and character!

Post war - it was created to allow for war and military marches to entertain European leaders as they discuss the reconstruction of Europe post Napolean.
