Off the beaten path Trnovo - Ljubljana is the tour that takes you to the parts of Ljubljana, that are just a short walk away from the city centre but offers completely different view.... local guide Mateja introduced us to the history and almost private world of this euquisite part nestled between Ljubljanica river and Gradaščica....definitely worth your time in Slovene capital giving you different perspective, that is just another bonus when acquainting yourself with present and past life ....

We were very delighted to have a kind guide with so much knowledge in detail about the city, it’s history and architecture, accompanied by anecdotes of the cities inhabitants. In fluent German we were guided through the old town and it’s most remarkable architecture highlights, which we would have never been able to gather all by ourselves. I can highly recommend doing a guided tour since it’s the most convenient and enriching way to get to know the city truly.

A very informative and interesting live virtual tour of the Cathedral of St Nicholas! Mateja shared her knowledge with accuracy and very clearly illustrating different works of art from the 1700s till nowadays regarding this important monument in Ljubljana.
As a tour guide myself, I really liked it especially because she was able to explain the historical and geographical context, too! And of course the multimedia content made it really involving.

Even though I am a local, there were a lot of moments on the tour when I felt like a visitor for the first time in a city yet to be discovered. And this is something that only a truly excellent guide can achieve. I have learned many new and interesting things about this charming part of Ljubljana. Now I see it in a totally new light and I am extremely grateful for this beautiful gift. Thank you, Mateja.

We usually think, we know already everything, however, when on tour, we discover those little hidden details- and we love our home even more. I just adore having locals - Slovenian or Expats, who live here - on the tour. It is always a great challenge for me. Thank you for joining me. We were fortunate to be able to join a tour of Ljubljana led by Mateja on July 14, 2022. Although we have visited nearly 50 countries and participated in countless tours, Mateja is by far the best local guide we have encountered. She offered many details, historical facts and interesting stories. Her tour is extremely well- conceived, thoughtfully covering all the most important aspects of this lovely city, from the history of the town and castle to the progressive modern green efforts at recycling, clean energy and so forth. From the river to the castle to the government quarter and central square, Mateja led our discovery with deep knowledge and enthusiasm. She allowed adequate personal time for shopping and lunch and finished with a guided river cruise. Superb in every respect.

Our walking tour in Ljubliana with Mateja was one of the highlights of our trip. She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind and generous with her time. We travelled with our three adult children and she tailored the tour to make it interesting for each of us.
While planning the trip, we set up a zoom call with her and she helped arrange an amazing 7 day itinerary in Slovenia. Highly recommend!

If we set up a pre tour meeting it is much easier to plan our time together and travellers get more in the time they spend in our city/region. Thoroughly enjoyed the very informative Walking tour and the boat ride. The guide was very enthusiastic, explained to us the history and fun facts about Ljubljana. She was very friendly, ever smiling and wore Green shirt, green earrings symbolizing her own love for the green city💚 and making us fall in love with Ljubljana with her friendly persona and unique story telling art . It was very memorable experience ☺️

We did a private walking tour of Ljubljana with Mateja. She was so knowledgeable and kind. Although we walked the city a bit before our tour, Mateja brought Slovenia to life by informing us of the unique history and culture of the region. I really cannot say enough good things. Please do yourself a favor and book this tour!

Canoe guided tour on Ljubljanica river.
History of Ljubljana and much more! Our guide Mateja was great. She led us through history of Ljubljana in a really pleasant way. Tour was filled of interesting facts but at the same time relaxing. The guide really respected our timing, we could take pictures, ask stuff and take a rest if needed. Even though I did canoe only once before in my life (and my canoe partner none) we felt pretty safe and it was not so demanding. I advice the tour during the week when it's less boats on the river.

HI,thank you so much for your review. So happy to hear your opininon and especially that you have enjoyed. Yes, in Ljubjana it is possible to do sightseeing while conoeing: all the major sights are positioned along the river. I like your suggestion as well: to do the tour during the week (that is why our tour is sheduled on Monday, however we can organize it anythime), since there is less traffic on the river. Thanks again and would be happy to host you again!

Mateja Kregar Gliha was our guide in Ljubljana and Slovenia. We spent a half day walking through the many sites in the city on our first day, and a full day in the Postojna Caves, Predjama Castle and Lipica Horse Center. She is an excellent guide and most gracious host. She even picked us up at 5 AM to take us to the airport. Thank you Mateja for our wonderful stay in Slovenia.
