Gallery not on Tripadvisor at this time
There is a lovely Gallery in old town called Galerija at Jurcicv tgr 2, S1. It is in the old city and a most delightful experience. It is owned by Peter Novak but Peter does not speak English but the staff does.

    Check before you book.
To all travellers...check before you go. We booked Sistere 3 through Booking.com. It showed a 2 bed apartment in the photos, but on arrival it was a 1 bed. I rang them and they informed me they do not have any 2 beds and it was the fault of booking.com. It was very dark in the corridors with very bad lighting that was very inconvenient. Room was clean but the space was only suitable for 1 night for 2 very small people.

    Lovely Old Town
We loved walking around the Old Town. It is a wonderful place with lots of shops and cafes. The Franciscan Church is beautiful and I was a fan of the Dragon Bridge also. We enjoyed eating in the outdoor cafes. We hiked up to the Castle and just walked around the grounds and enjoyed looking down on the town. We stayed at the Hotel Heritage right near Cobbler's Bridge and it was a wonderful place to stay. I would recommend to go to Ljublijana for a couple days if you can fit it in your trip.

Very pleasant to walk around & there are things to see and do
For a country of two million people, this is a fairly impressive capitol. We enjoyed strolling around the Old Town, at least small part we had time for. It’s a lovely historic area with great buildings, a scenic canal and bridges. We spent quite a bit of time at the Castle, which was great. Highly recommended. We stopped at a church, the Franciscan Church. It stood out with its red facade. As it was late and we had already missed seeing the cathedral, by minutes, I thought it was probably closed. Then I saw someone go up & in. So we sprinted, as best as we could sprint at that point in the day, to get in before it closed. While not as spectacular as many churches and cathedrals, it was still worth seeing. We walked around then until we found a restaurant, strangely enough a Mexican place, that we wanted to eat in. It was surprisingly cheap and good and filling. A trifecta. If you I had been told beforehand that I would be having dinner at a Mexican restaurant in the capitol of Slovenia I would have thought the suggestion ludicrous. I still find it bizarre, particularly since I almost never eat Mexican food, even in the U.S. It’s been years prior that I did. But we saw it and I was in the mood. It’s the magic of Ljubljana actually had one. There was a lot of variety there, even in the short amount of time we were looking. Oh, they also had lots of folks selling magnets, good ones, at bargain prices right by the river. One guy even gave me a free magnet. I love Slovenia.

    Small, inviting Slovenian capital city
Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia is charming and delightful. Centrally located, it makes an ideal location for day trips to the rest of the country. The old town lies along the Ljubljanica River and up to the Ljubljana Castle which overlooks the town atop a hill. The old town can be easily walked in a day with plenty of time to explore some shops, enjoy some drinks along the river and even visit the castle. I recommend at least two days, however, if you want to explore the castle, churches and other museums. The river is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants. I found the service to be excellent, the prices were reasonable and the food was very good. Slovenia benefits from neighborly influences from Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia plus its own culture and cuisine. The Slovenian wines are excellent and should not be missed. One of the main attractions is Preseren Square adjacent to the Triple Bridge. Nice views of the castle and good people watching. The Dragon Bridge is close by and the dragon is the symbol of Ljubljana. The main train station is a very short walk to the old city and I had no need for a car. I did take a bus trip to Lake Bled one morning. As I only had two days in LJ, I didn't get to explore very deeply, but overall the city, although small, was interesting, charming and lovely. The people were great and almost everyone I interacted with spoke English very well. The city was not overrun with tourists, but it was not empty by any means.

    Beautiful Ljubljana
Ljubljana was just what we needed! A Beautiful city with most of the main sights within walking distance and a beautiful old town with an equally beautiful castle looking down on it. It’s definitely a chilled out place and we just loved walking along the river and eating and drinking in many of the wonderful restaurants which run along it. Must see is the beautiful little Orthodox Church just before Tivoli park.

    A gem of a place.
We loved it. It was small and compact and easily accessible. It was pedestrian friendly. It had lots of lovely buildings / statues / fountains / bridges and other really interesting things to see and do. There was plenty of shopping / markets / cafes and restaurants as well. You only really need a day here which makes it good as you can see heaps in that day if you plan it right. Its a lovely and beautiful place. The people are friendly. We really loved this place and would visit again.

    Beautiful City
A beautiful cityto look around. It's quite compact so you can see a lot on foot. I would recommend a cycle tour if you're short on time. There's lots of history, architecture, shops and restaurants.

    Really good old town
Old town in Ljubljana is smaller than other European cities version, that being said still very good to walk around and explore. Lots of historical building around city area with nice bridges, being more compact old town you to get a better feeling and atmosphere. Enjoyed a few dinners in the old town, at night area has a different vibe to it, so would recommend visiting during the day and night for the contrast.

Take your time to explore this beautiful part of the city
The old town of Ljubljana is a great area to explore - since it’s all pedestrianised. The architecture is a little like a cross between Italy, Hungary and Germany. We arrived on a busy Friday evening, when the street food stalls, bars and restaurants were all buzzing. There was even a water volleyball competition taking place in/on the river. Plenty of good independent shops, with locally made souvenirs aplenty. Quietened down after the weekend, especially with the rain, but there are some great cafes to sit undercover and watch the world go by. Fine pizzas and paninis available everywhere. Enjoy!

We were here for only an afternoon & evening & wished we could have stayed much longer. This city is beautiful, with a great family-friendly vibe, affordable prices, amazing restaurants & bars, the river with boats & great shopping. The people were all very friendly & its easy to get around with only English. We were shocked to see that even on December 30th, they seemed to be celebrating like Christmas was the next day. Christmas stalls were open & there was great food, hot chocolate & glow wine everywhere. The lights, trees & decorations were nice, & it felt the most Christmassy of any place we visited on our trip to 7 countries. We'll definitely return here again in the future & stay longer. Can't say enough good things about this city & would say it is a "must see" in Europe.

We visited several towns and cities during our vacation in Europe, but this is the one place I most want to return to. We barely had more than a day there, and it definitely wasn't enough. Though there were certainly a lot of people walking about the city, it didn't feel crowded. It felt safe, clean and very pleasant. There are so many beautiful cafes to sit outside and enjoy a meal or a drink. The market was small at the end of the day, as people were starting to pack up, but it was absolutely still worth shopping. It is a wonderful, historic city, but with all the modern amenities you might want.

Ljubljana old downtown is a must when you plan your trip of the balkans. The castle is OK but you have to go up there see the view of the Alps at distance, breathtaking. I had the best time at the wine shop, they served us a wonderful local wine, really good, with pumpkin orange marmalade and a fresh cut of jamón serrano - AMAZING. If you can, walk down to the main square area. It’s fun.

The main square then starts with a farmers market, the cathedral and the stroll along the river.

As you cross the dragon bridge, look for the small souvenir stores to the right, one of them carries many local artists stuff including t-shirts with unique dragon designs, earrings, pottery, hand painted stones and many other things.

Then walking along the river you will see many charming gorgeous spots to photograph. Including the view of the castle from below. I loved the jewelry and shoe stores! Kid friendly, fun especially with the dragons. Many eatery/bar/cafe options. Not super wheelchair friendly.

We have visited Ljubljana twice now, and I think it is my favourite European city! It has some beautiful architecture, and the walks along the river with lovely buildings and restaurants both sides make it very special. It is quite a compact city to walk around, with plenty of nice restaurants and bars all around. The castle is up on the hill and can be seen from everywhere. Tivoli Park is a huge area of park and woodland, popular with local hikers, and is a lovely place for a nice long walk. The bus and train stations are a short walk away, so it is easy to get from here to other places such as Lake Bled.

Doing a tour either by bike or walking would be recommended but just wander around and look. So beautiful. Also suggest visit during the day and then in the evening as when the sun goes down some of the buildings look so much more stunning

The area quite big and spent hours to go around. This is a pedestrian area. We could see the old building with Slovenian style, take a boat on Ljubljana River, relax and dine in cafes or restaurant, shopping at some shops and even only sitting and watching people walking around. Ljubljana Castle also located in this area. This place was really show the Ljubljana people's lifestyle.

One of the most mesmerizing capital cities in the world. Infact, Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, untouched and unexplored. I couldn't get enough of clicking at the same points again and again. The amazing cafes and restaurants next to the river. The beautifully decorated shops. The castle view from the centre. Colorful buildings. And most importantly, it is not crowded like most of the well known European capitals where you can't even breathe properly, forget a nice picture, no matter how beautiful the European capitals are.

We spent three days in Ljubljana in order to visit the sourrounding region. The small town has been a susprise with the old city centre which is very well maintanied. nowadays the streets along the river are totally polulated by numerous restaurants and pubs, which provides an image of a really dynamic, alive and young city. the view of the rock with on top the ancient fort is impressive, mosto of all from the three bridges. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the opan air market on saturday morning, and to have lunch in one of the bistro restaurants next to it (under the colonnade parallel to the river. It's a lovely city for a short break, really close to other attractions.

Ljubljana is a terrific small city. The old town is pedestrianised with a real cafe culture scene running along the river side. Plenty of hotels but used an excellent Airbnb 50 metres from Triple Bridge. It's an ideal destination for a long weekend, not too expensive by european standards, and for a longer stay is only an hour from the fabulous Lake Bled or the coast and a very cheap 2 hour rail ride to Zagreb if you want to see another Balkan city.
