Although the church is one of the main features of the square, hearing the history of the square itself - and the poet Preseren - is what makes this place special. The statue of him is excellent and if you look in the right direction, you can see where his love (Elizabeth) once lived and the "face" on the building... More

Not a very special square but since it is the center of Ljubljana, you will definately end up there. A lot of city tours start from this square an tourist information can also be found here. A good starting point for exploring the city. When we were here, they created "rain" in the center of the square for people to... More

We lived walking in downtown Ljubljana and moved the cute square. Especially with the "weather system" and impromptu groups singing "Singing in the rain".

Not what you immediately expect from a former communist capital! Really nice square and atmosphere, with a few buskers with accordions who were extremely good!

Very nice square in the center of town. There are monuments, churches, and pieces of art to enjoy nearby. Currently (July, 2016) they have a sort of rain area set up in the middle of the square, with thin (almost invisible) pipes running overhead, that simulate rain in the middle of a sunny, hot day (with the area clearly marked... This square is bustling all the time with tour groups, individuals gathering, musicians, shoppers, and more. Our hotel the Grand Hotel Union was just behind the pink church so we traversed the square frequently. It's where the action is!

The "main" square of Ljubljana is quite small, but is a hub for people. The Ljublana's "own weather" is a wonderful idea and people love walking through that space.
