We booked tickets for the ballet 'Swan Lake' online, and looked forward to the show for weeks before our visit. Tickets were good value, and we had great seats near the front for under 40 euro. The orchestra was excellent, as was the ballet, and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The Opera house itself is well worth seeing, in its gilt ornate splendor. It was fun to mingle in the downstairs bar with glasses of champagne during the interval. The performance started at 7:30pm, leaving time beforehand to eat a leisurely dinner in a nearby restaurant. Most of the clientele dressed up for this lovely night out in Ljubljana. Don't be afraid to get front row seats if you don't want any obstruction of your view, or if you have children with you. They are close to the stat, but sufficiently raised to have a good view.

Nice theatre in the center of Ljubljana. Went there for Pepelka (Cinderella) which was great. Buy tickets in advance, as it is small and usually full. Try to book from row 10 or less. Staff is really good.

First of all, just arriving at the building feels special. The outside is magnificent as is the interior. I thought it would be huge inside, but not so. All of the orchestra seats were fairly close to the stage. We had 2nd row seats for Swan Lake. We purchased the tickets the day before at the information center, and I thought they were quite inexpensive at 38 euro each. The performance was top notch and a joy to watch. Highly recommend a visit to a performance there.

I went twice to the opera, to "Nabucco" and to the ballett "Giselle".

For the Opera I had a 5 Euro-standing ticket. You get these only shortly before the start of the program (approx 1 hour before the sale starts) Go there and go in early, so you stand in the front row of the standing-space. you have a good view on the stage (as you overlook all sitting people), you just might not see the very back-decoration, but ohwell, i went for the music.

For the ballett i had a 10 Euro sitting ticket, which i bought online before. we were sitting on the highest balcony, in the very front. its nice (and cheap!) but you dont see one corner of the stage, which can be sometimes annoying, when the love-couple is only dancing in that corner! But the ballett was georgeous!

The Opera house is small (but its a small country!) and lovely renovated. They took the whole building besides the outer walls down, so the interior is new, and the outside is renovated, but old-looking.

I can only recommend this, especially as a spontaneous evening. (Did the same in Copenhagen!)

Went there to watch the Doktor Jivago Ballet ( a ballet drama - doctor zhivago) . It was full , inside of the Opera House remembered me the smaller size of the Bolshoi Theatre , ambiance was so impressive.

Performance of the ballet and the Orchestra indeed were so wonderful, magnificent.
For us it was an amazing and unforgetable.

As to price, really so reasonable, for instance paid euro 31.- per person

Two chech architects planned this building, which is a real Opera House, like it should be. We had a chance to get in - there were a performance for school children - and could take a look inside. It is red and gold, small but very nice.

Classical and, I would say, usual opera building, but somehow it glows. It is very nice, perfectly renovated. Near the ticket office you may see small exibition of costumes from the shows.

The beautiful theatre had one of the besyt Opera I have ever seen - Carmen - sung beautifully, perfectly, by all participants. Singers were backed by a 50 piece superb Orchestra. Additionally, The Ballet: The Nutcracker, was also performed flawlessly, beautifully, and again the Orchestra was superb.
Tickets are quite reasonable, and both experiences were welcome rays of sunshine while it snowed outside.
I was thrilled - AND apparently most if not all performers are Slovenian - kudos to a great country, and to their most talented musicians, singers, and dancers.

Very beautiful building near the Tivoli Park. Just a few minutes` walk from the Old Town. On both sides of the building there were costumes of pervious (and current) shows on display.

Good quality singing and orchestra. Soprano particularly good. Large chorus very good also. Production values somewhat less than Royal Opera House London but then the prices were about a quarter of those in London. Acting the weakest part of the opera. However, a good experience well worth the money. Knowledgeable audience. Auditorium full. Opera bar opposite well worth a pre-opera drink - becomes a disco late at night!
