The castle itself can be separated into two parts: inner yard and garden, which are free of charge, and walls and museum, which you have to buy ticket for. As for the free part, it's just a nice place. There's a good cafe with terrace,...More

On Ljubljana castle you get the most amazing view of Ljubljana and surrounding area. There are cafes and resaturant up there - worth the visit. If you mind the walk uphill, there is nice pathway... otherwise use the escalator - also great experience.

Great living history presentation spanning Roman times to the Hapsburg era. The actors did a fantastic job bringing the colorful history of the castle alive. The tour last about 1 hour, includes a round trip on the funicular, and entrance to all of the museum...More

We walked up to the castle, the view at the top is always worth the climb. Initially we thought it was just another castle without something unique. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised! We decided to play the escape castle game in which we have to...More

The castle is extremely overrated and definitely skippeable. It was overcrowded with tourists and the museums are nothing special. It's basically a big empty castle with no history. If you do go, definitely pay extra for the audioguide to get a bit more context into...More

I visited the Ljubljana castle in July 2018. I arrived to the funicular around 11 in the morning and there were no queues at the ticket sales. The guy in the sales was very nice and recommended I that I took the 12 euro ticket...More

Definitely worth going for the photo ops and the views. If you can eat at Strelez (sp?) then you should do that for the food and the view!

There is no parking at the top. The two ways to get up are via walking or taking the funicular railway.
