One of the best travel experiences I've ever had! Everything went seamlessly and we didn't have to think about organizing a thing - Spela and team had everything under control. The food and wine were absolutely amazing, the excursions were once in a lifetime, and of course, Reza was the BEST tour guide of all time. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore Slovenia - this is definitely the best way to do it!

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and so special to spend this time with my 3 adult daughters, and two old friends.

Slovenia is a wonderful country - so beautiful and so friendly !
The hiking was challenging, but worth it! Our guide Bugy was = The Best !!
He had lots of advice and assistance getting up the mountain. He adjusted the plans as needed for the weather and our speed.

The amazing dinner at Hisa Franko was a highlight ! The food and people were so great ! The accommodations and food and organization of the tour company Cook Eat Slovenia was top notch ! Spela was very hands on and a great communicator for all the pretrip arrangements and the many questions i had.
I hope i can return some day to Slovenia !

I highly recommend Cook Eat Slovenia !

Spela, we all thoroughly enjoyed our time in Slovenia! The dinner, wine cellar and stay in the caste was exceptional. Visiting with local people was a highlight. Lake Bled was amazing. Never to be forgotten. Should not have attempted caves with my back issues but was not informed ahead of time of how very strenuous they were.

we were spoiled by this customized Service to our small group of 9. Excellent locations, destinations, and especially the "homestead" visits in 2 smaller towns where we met the proprietors and owners of farms with home made farm to table meals stood out. Our personal guide was exceptionally well educated, and engaging. We all built longtime memories, Slovenia is a beautiful country with wonderful and friendly people.

I decided to take this tour as I really wanted to experience the food, wine and scenery of Slovenian.
It exceeded my expectations.
Our guide Miha was fabulous.
The farmstay was really comfortable with beautiful views over the vineyards and the hosts were great.
From the very first adventure into caves to the last dinner and everything in-between, fantastic.
Beautiful wineries, fantastic food, sublime scenery and passionate people. What more could you ask for.
We ate at the world renowned Michelin star Hiša Franco. The most wonderful experience. Also ate at family run and zero km restaurants in small picturesque villages and the most amazing antipasto platters at wineries and olives groves. The food and wines were abundant and delicious.
Špela has done a great job sourcing all the great places visited.
sLOVEnia.
Highly recommend this tour.

i came across this wonderful cooking class while traveling in Ljubljana.

I was very excited to learn more about the culture and cooking techniques, and the differences in the foods verse what I am used to in the United States.

We were given all of the directions via email communications with Spela our instructor.
We easily found the location for the cooking class. It was easily within walking distance from our Hotel the Grand Union.

Upon meeting Spela in person we felt very welcomed and comfortable.

She was like a long lost friend. What an incredible evening we had on both occasions.
We enjoyed some Slovenian wine and a popular appetizer, A aged meat with bread it was good.

We both recieved Aprons, which was very nice touch.
We were welcomed to help with preparing the items we would later be really enjoying.

Spela was great about explaining each process and gave us great directions.
My Husband and I both enjoy cooking so this was such an enjoyable evening, experience.

We felt this was a great time, considering we would have paid to go out and eat a nice meal and would have paid for drinks, wine.

So this is certainly worth doing if you enjoy cooking and learning, but if you want to really learn about Slovenia and feel the warmth of a person who is pasionate about her country and wants to share with as many people as possible THIS is for you!

I Remainded in contact with Spela and consider her a good friend. Wonderful Cook, and Instructor.
She is also a mountain climber and a ski instructor.
A very Talented Young Woman.

WE LOVED the cooking knife we used during our first class.
Upon returning for our second class we were thrilled Spela made arrangements for us to meet her friend who is a Blacksmith and we were able to purchase two Beautifully handcrafted knifes that will remain treasured items now in our homes.

Both of our classes we were alone which was nice, but ashame because it would have been even better to meet new people.

The Food was so, so, good. we did not leave hungry. NOR did we go thirsty.
We had alot of Slovenian wine and at the end of the evening we got to sample DELICIOUS home made Schnapps. Such interesting ones as well, like Dandelion Schnapps and Pine Tree, which were two of my favorites.

Spela furnished us with copies of the recipies so would could attempt to recreate the wonderful meals and desserts for our loved ones.

My Husbands favorite dessert was a potato dumpling with plums and that was great, My Favorite and I Still think about how delicious it was, was a vanilla ice cream, with PUMPKIN SEED OIL, which is a very popular item here in SLOVENIA. With a sprinkle of Sea Salt.
I Know this sounds like a weird combo but it was fantastic flavor !!!!

We also enjoyed the chocolate and schnapps, covered figs. OH my !

Cant wait until our next trip !!!!

Oh i almost forgot to mention the WILD GARLIC, it looks like pesto. it is wonderful. It is dark green just like a pesto, great flavor.

I Wish we lived in Ljublajana

Špela was a warm, attentive hostess who explained the dishes we were to prepare and helped us with each step in the process. It was relaxing, and a pleasure to learn how to cook traditional Slovenian dishes, and work together to produce our meal. We enjoyed good wine and tasted terrific schnapps after dinner. Lastly, Špela emailed us the recipes were used to make our meal. The class was a treat and the evening very worthwhile.

I participated in a week-long excursion sponsored by Cook Eat Slovenia that included three days of backpacking, some auxiliary hikes, jumping into freezing lakes and rivers, and eating some of the best food of my life! The trip was awesome from start to finish. The people in Slovenia were so nice, the views were unbelievable, the food was delicious, and our guide was a blast. I highly recommend this trip! We were devastated to leave.

(Please note my answers to the questions below concerning accessibility and age restrictions are related to the fact that I participated in the backpacking and hiking trip that is best suited for older, able-bodied persons.)

We so enjoyed our evening with Spela. It was lots of fun watching Spela demonstrate what we were to make and learning about Slovenian foods and culture. Spela is lovely, welcoming and accommodating. Our small group included a vegetarian and two people dealing with lactose and gluten issues. Spela was amazing in adjusting traditional dishes to account for her clients. What we loved most, aside from Spela herself was the fact that we got to share in real, every day Slovenian dishes that we could easily make and learn about the food itself, where the food came from and how to identify food coming from the different areas of Slovenia and what makes the food different. We learned about the wines that accompanied our meals - all of which were fabulous and the wine areas in Slovenia. Spela also shared liqueurs she had made herself using traditional family methods. This is a wonderful way to spend and evening full of laughter, conversation, getting to meet new people and eat good food while learning about Slovenian food, wine and culture. Go and have a great evening - it's wonderful!

My Wife and I signed up for a cooking class while I was working in Ljubljana. We met Spela and we felt like we were friends for a long time. The class was professional and fun at the same time. I Love cooking and she taught us some Slovenian traditional dishes. I Loved the Mashed Potato dumplings, everything was so good. When I got back to states I cooked this dish for friend’s. I highly recommend going to one of these classes, you will have fun and learn to cook new dishes, Spela is a great Chef.
