    Not horse fan enough?
The family ticket was 44€ and this was it not worth. Maybe because we were late in the afternoon (16pm) and there were no demonstrations anymore but 44 euros for looking at some (nice and friendly) white horses in their stable and a small museum should not costs 44 Euros. Had seen it all in just over 1 hour and we didn’t rush

    Outstanding horses for dressage lessons
I have travelled to many places in the world for dressage lessons, and the horses at Lipica Stud have been the best. I ride at a reasonable dressage level and when I booked they said they did not have horses trained highly enough for me … so I only booked for 2 days (4 lessons of riding). When I got there and actually rode, the horses were fantastic!!! Of course like any horse, if you didn’t ride well they could be lazy but when I was able to ride well the horses could activate hind legs, use their backs, balance and respond to seat aides. The downside was that the instructors available were juniors and struggled to teach in English. They were lovely people who tried really hard … but the horses were my teachers and I found it so beneficial to ride and learn from them. I will return …. And book for longer next time! I’ve still so much to practice and improve with my riding … not to mention more flying changes, piaffe and passage!! If you are a dressage rider looking for an amazing schoolmaster experience … go to Lipica!! (Note: the hotel is quite modern and nice; half board dinners were awful - drive to Trieste instead!)

    Amazing Lipizzaner Horse Ranch
Amazing place to visit. The famous Lipizzaner horses are bred, raised, and trained at this riding school which is a 25 minute ride from Piran, Slovenia. It is meticulously maintained with places for family activities. The on-site restaurant has a good selection of food. The best part of the ranch is obviously the stables and training facilities which require an entry fee. This area is worth getting a guide to escort you and tell about the colorful history of the facility.

The place is worth visiting but bring your own food
Lipica is worth visiting, horses seems nice and well cared for. The museum is slso great. The guided tours are informative and worth 45 min of time. Otherwise staff seems unsatisfied and they talk bad things over eachother infront of visitors. The food offer is poor: a fast food tent with only two workers. The coock touches fresh meat and then the vegies for salad without washing hands! At the other side there is an overpriced restaurant with unfriendly staff and old desserts.

    Not bad but felt unwelcome
The stars of the show are of course the horses so gentle and kind. We paid for a general tour which included a guided tour and our guide a young man was knowledgeable and funny. The training session is extra so we didn’t pay for that part and we were rebuffed at the training area but didn’t know what it was as we just wanted a look around. Most areas have a no public not allowed notice so difficult to see all parts. The 4 out of 5 is quite high but these stars are for the horses and our guide. Don’t bother with the restaurant just outside as we waited ages to be served so ended up leaving.

    A Crushing Diappointment
So to me, the attraction of our visit was seeing the horses in action, either by seeing a training session or a performance. We had arranged 5 days in the area, and the website said no training or performances Monday, but the rest of the week there would be one or the other. Not wanting to screw things up, on Tuesday I phoned. Oh, the website is incorrect I was told. This week, training on Thursday and Saturday, performance on Sunday. So we planned for our visit on Thursday. On arrival at the ticked booth we were told; no performances or training today, nothing in October. But we phoned to confirm we said. Impossible the lady replied. You could use a photo of this lady as a dictionary definition of indifference. It was basically tough luck. So as not to waste the journey we bought the tour anyway. At the start of it they told us this week there would be training on Friday and performances Friday and Sunday. Accurate? Who knows; all our travel plans were committed for the remainder of the week. The tour itself was OK, but I could see stables at home, and while the horses look to be fine specimens, not being a horse person much, how am I to know? Same for the museum; as add on to the main attraction they are fine but not a reason to come here. They also did a workshop, where one of the trainers brought out a horse and described some finer points. All good things, but they can’t make up for not seeing the horses in action in my book. These guys need to up their game. I get that you change your schedule in slow times, but boy, you need to make sure you communicate, and in this internet age, on your website is how you do that.

Bitter visit to Lipica Stud Farm
Hello, I visited the farm this week. The farm was very impressive and of course the horses were magnificent. But my visit left me with a bitter taste. I'm not a young person and my friend has difficulties walking. We were very surprised to find that there are no solutions for this category of visitors, like a small electric cart or a mobility scooter or even a wheelchair. It's a pity because the entry fee is substantial enough to cover such cases, which I'm sure aren't too many. We couldn't enjoy our visit because of this and left with a heavy heart.

    Amazing horses
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the farm. The Lipizzaners were amazing. We were able to view a practice session. It was very interesting. I wish only it was allowed to take photos. We visited the Riding Hall, Stables, Museum, Hippodrome and Chapel. It’s quite a complex and was well worth the time.

DO NOT DO NOT bother, unless there is a show on, MUST CHECK FIRST!!!!!!
We went out of our way to see these beautiful white horses but were thoroughly disappointed as we had not done our homework. There were no performances and could only look at them from a distance. We had to do a tour with a guide that looked and sounded like a true Communist. She even wore this horrendous uniform. Her information was learned off rote, she had no personality and it was obvious that she was bored with her job. There was a visit to a rather interesting museum on the premises but we were given only 10 minutes but we had to be accompanied. I thought that she would whip me when we asked for more time. This was an expensive waste of time and money visit. If the stud farm advertises a performance and you are in the area, go by all means but my suggestion is to see them in Vienna or in a proper theatrical venue somewhere else. This place is heavily promoted but it was the biggest disappointment of our 6 week trip to Europe.Spend more time at Postojna Caves or go to Predjama Castle, they are amazing..........

My two daughters ages 6 and 8 are avid horse riders and lovers. They adored this place, much more so than the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. It is a nice park with a lot of open space and opportunities to see, pet and learn about the horses. There is a small playground on site, a couple of restaurants, an interactive museum, several stables with horses inside, a pasture with foals and mares, and a nice gift shop. It's an enjoyable place to walk around. We spent an entire day there and watched a training session. We returned the following day for the show. If you save your ticket to return on a different day to see the show, they only charge you the difference in price. This location is much more interactive and reasonably priced compared to the Spanish Riding School. For children who are interested in horses, it was excellent. Don't miss the mares and foals returning to the stables around 16:30 everyday from the pasture. It's a horse parade!

The Lipica horse farm is where the famous Lipizzaner horses originally came from. If you love your peace and quiet, do not start a discussion with a Slovenian why the Austrians are getting all the praise and money for the horses, which were originally bred on Slovenian ground (the reason is of course that this dates back to the times of the Habsburg empire when Slovenia was part of Austria).

The farm is situated in a calm rural setting, and from the moment you arrive, you get the feeling that this is a very nice place for an animal. Cats are roaming arounds, dogs are barking, and horses are being led around.
The experience is less posh and formal than the one at Piber, the official Austrian Lipizzaner stud farm, or the Spanische Hofreitschule, the performance venue of the dancing white horses. Still, you will enjoy the friendly atmosphere a lot.

Based on their website and limited knowledge about horses (in fact Lipica is the only breed I know), I was expecting much more.

I have tried to contact Lipica farm 5 days prior to our arrival to get maximum out of our stay but have not even replayed. That was a first bad sign. :-)

When we arrived we took a carriage-ride and a tour. The carriage-ride was far from any romantic dream. The carriages you can see on the pictures are not those they normally use. They use some sort of modern uncomfortable carriages. Our carriage-driver/guide was silent for whole 1/2 of an hour (There was no language barrier - we even understand little bit Slovenian).

We took a tour around the farm and to the museum Lipikum. It was also not any interesting. We could see few horses (maximum 20) and even horse worth more than EUR 1 million but it was not anything special and our small kids (4 and 2 y.o.) get bored.

Horses are nice but if you are not professional, they are just white horses. Do not expect anything else. I believe that what they do is unique and the history is also amazing but they need to find better way how to sell it to tourists.
