Lipica Stud Farm & Skocjan Caves from Trieste

1 review
With influences from across Europe and beautiful countryside to explore, the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a melting pot of rich culture and natural attractions. On this tour, see traditional Lipizzan horses at the Lipica Stud Farm and visit the UNESCO–listed Škocjan Caves in neighboring Slovenia. Delve into north eastern Italy’s historic traditions and beautiful landscapes, with round-trip travel from Trieste included.

We decided to go for the show "A tale of Lipica" on Sunday, 16th of August with our horse interested guests from Germany. What a poor, but expensive experience. After 36 min everything was over, only a few moments were memorable when a horse showed where a dressage can guide to. Biggest joke was a carriage which cruised more or less pointless a few minutes inside the riding hall - but otherwise the shoe would have ended even earlier. This was not a show but a simple rip off for 23€ per person. Avoid it!

The family ticket was 44€ and this was it not worth. Maybe because we were late in the afternoon (16pm) and there were no demonstrations anymore but 44 euros for looking at some (nice and friendly) white horses in their stable and a small museum should not costs 44 Euros. Had seen it all in just over 1 hour and we didn’t rush

If you are an animal lover than this is the place to visit while in the region. There is something about horses which calms people. Dont miss on the guided tour, because guides there are very educated and you can see the passion when they are talking about lipizzaner horses.

The farm itself and the horses were beautiful. We could watch all the individual training sessions outside. The tour guide, Victoria, was entertaining and very friendly. The restaurant staff was indeed very slow although the restaurant wasn’t full at all. The „Show“ was very interesting and depicted the different training stages of a horse. I wouldn’t call it „Show“, though, it didn’t even have light effects. We felt like the wellbeing of the horses was at the heart of everything. We were impressed by that.

We visited an interesting carriage museum, beautiful horses in stables, a museum about horses and on the end we attended the mare's return to the barn. An extraordinary experience. The guide was very expert, kind and helpful.
