About
Vogel is one of the most beautiful and popular ski resorts in the winter, and the most popular high mountain centre in other seasons. Our slogan “Vogel. Like a Fairy Tale.” is the perfect description of our resort in every season of the year, and we plan to increase our profile with it and give our visitors this fairy-tale feeling. We are determined to seize the opportunities offered by our location in the heart of the Triglav National Park (TNP). Vogel cable car takes you to 1535 metres above sea level throughout the year (except during the maintenance periods). In this way viewpoints high in the mountains are easily accessible and also make an excellent starting point for hikers. You can choose from single or return cable car tickets. The cable car can transfer up to 950 people per hour. The Orlove glave quad chairlift also operates during the summer season (mid-June to end of September) and provides a single or a return ride in the pleasantly refreshing summer climate. It stops at the top of Orlove glave with a paragliding take-off point close by.

- LMilich196 contributionsgood value, busy ski centreSkiied for 5 days during the Croatian school holidays (Slovenes returned on 2 January), which meant it's fairly busy. Gondolas run up the mountain every 30 minutes. The centre tried very hard to make slopes available - no snow cannon allowed here, so snow had to be shifted from slopes (then closed) to others. Prices are reasonable for the cable car and skiing, and for ski rental (at the top). Cafes to choose from also at the top, ski gear sold at the bottom.Visited January 2023Written January 6, 2023
- AMT9 contributionsNice trip up, lovely viewEven with less than 20cm of snow we went there with our kids(11month old and 2.5years) and had an excellent time. The experience of going up in the cableway it’s unique if you get a nice place near the window. For me 13€ one way only it’s a little expensive.Visited January 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 9, 2023

There was quite a long line in front of the ticket office, and even then you have to wait for the cable car to arrive. I can't imagine it in the winter season. The upper part of the area is clear and can be walked in no time. Also suitable for family trips.Visited September 2022Traveled with friendsWritten April 1, 2023

Stunning trip up the side of mountain up to the ski area or walking tracks in Summertime. Walked around, admired the views, had coffee and imagined what it would be like covered in snow in Wintertime! Beautiful! Hint! Sit on right hand side of bus to admire stunning views of Lake Bohinj.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten July 15, 2023

Took the cable car in the Autumn. The queue to buy tickets was very slow and then the car was uncomfortably packed. It seemed dangerous to pack so many people in. Arriving at the top it looked very unkempt. There was building work going on and the landscape was scarred with tire tracks. All around the Slovenian National Parks there are signs reminding visitors to be quiet and respectful of the environment here there was pop music pumping out of the cable car station, really loud. I didn't expect to be sitting on an overcrowded mountain top watching a tractor churning up the landscape listening to Katie Perry on loud speaker but thats what I got!

We went skiing on Vogel this December and bought two days ticket. I was horrified with the experience from start to finish, we were cramped in cable car like sardines, considering we are in the middle of global pandemic I find this unacceptable. The infrastructure especially lifts are antiquated, the only good slope called Zadnji Vogel has a two person lift so old I have only seen one like this in a museum. All the other slopes are short and the ration waiting vs. skiing time is 10:1. I tought the first day the slopes were in awful condition, but the second day was even worse it was unskiable and I am an advanced skier. The parking is free but very limited so we had to improvise and got hefty parking ticket, so be careful.

At 25Eur per person I suppose it's not considered cheap, but it is cheaper than a bottle of poor white wine in a nearby restaurant. We love mountains and on a sunny day in October you can get to experience a superb cloud inversion, plus super crisp clear views across the high Julian mountains. Nice easy walking on the top, enjoyable. The main summit cafe was pricey, 2 coffees 7.80 Eur. a few people eating and some plates being hardly touched for whatever reasons. Queues for the lift weren't a problem, we didn't have to wait and it was mid morning. We enjoyed, and don't need to revisit.

Wouldn’t recommend unless getting waiting in line to be packed like sardines into an overpriced gondola car then walking on gravel ski resort service roads is your idea of fun. Hikes get nicer further along but are up and down steep gradients - views are quite lovely. You get to pay even more just to use the restroom.

We visited for a week skiing. The queue for the cable car was over 2 hours everyday as only 1 car runs at a time. Everyone is packed in and it is very very crowed. Once up the top the runs are good but the queue times are quite long.

We couldn't believe the cost for this experience - €29.50 per adult return. I would expect a daypass for this price. It's just a 4.5 minute cable car ride. At the top you can also use the chairlifts (these were not manned although only one was in operation). There was little to do at the top except for walk around and see a few small goats. Sadly we found the admission prices in Slovenia to be much higher than some other countries that border it. I came 18 years ago and it was very good value back then. However, things have changed a lot and we decided to give several things a miss. We did do this one, although having paid nearly €60 for two adults it was not worth it.

Cable car experience was shocking: while people are obliged to wear masks, not everyone did and was still allowed to enter. They also packed the cable car until it could fit no more people… in the midst of a worldwide Covid-pandemic! We felt extremely uncomfortable. Reducing the number of people per ride would have been the least. Strange how this is at all possible these days. The positives: great view and great hike done at the top, but was it worth the risk?

The nature itself is stunning and cable car ride is great too, but everything else is subpar.
Resort itself seems deserted , whole bunch of neglected structures and nothing to do. As per "things to do list" published on top, we went hiking to Zadnji vogel, to see shepherds and eat some traditional food, when we came there after 45min of walking the place was empty........

Extremely overpriced! 29€ for a return ticket for a gondola? It was definitely the most expensive attraction we visited. For comparison, the whole ticket to the UNESCO Škocjan caves is 24€. Other than that, the ride was smooth and the views beautiful and the hike to Vogel was also great, but if you don’t have time to kill, maybe go see other attractions in the Triglav National Park.

How to get to the ski area late May of this year from Hotel Jezero - no car?
Is there a bus that goes around Lake Bohinj?

Are there good views in Dec and January timeframe? We are planning a half day trip from Bled to take the cable car up to Lake Bohinj. I've been in the summer but wondering what it is like in the winter?

Hi kormensandiego! If winter have snow you should be prepared long wait time for the Cable Car because many skiers are want go to the top and no other way. It is not uncommon for the 1-2 hour waittime. So calculate with this.

How easy is it to get from the airport in Ljubljana to the ski resort or surrounding accommodation? Thank you!

Hi, we took a bus from Ljubljana to the city's main bus/train station. I think it runs on the hour...very easy commute. At the main bus station, you can get a bus to the Bled Lake region which takes about 1/2 hour-45 minutes. We went from Bled Lake to Vogel Ski Area on the bus as well. The roads and the bus system are great. I am certain you can get the schedules online. If you rent a car, the roads are very good the only concern with having a car is parking in some of the congested city and resort areas. Enjoy Slovenia! I absolutely LOVED it there! Such a beautiful country!

I'm intending to visit next Feb, either Monday 11th - Friday 15th or Wednesday 6th to Sunday 10th - the latter dates run over Preseren Day as well as a weekend - are the weekends and/or public holidays on Vogel very busy and does it impact on overall enjoyment? (I'm imagining theme park queues!)
Thanks in advance!

We have visited the sky center on weekend, but in April. It does not seemed busy or crowded and we did not expect negative impact on the enjoyment, but we did not tried the skiing opportunities, just had a coffee up there, took some photos and enjoyed the view. It can be more crowded winter time, if you would like to ski.

שלום,
אשמח לדעת אילו מסלולים \ פעילויות אפשר לעשות עם ילדים אם עולים גם ברכבל הפתוח (לא מעוניינים באומגה) בחודש אוגוסט.תודה
