Falling in love with bees
Jul 2020 • Solo
If you are interested in learning about bees and discovering if you have what it takes to be a beekeeper, Blaž and Danijela of Čebelarstvo Ambrožič - Kralov, will help you in this discovery. Blaž is an excellent teacher and guide, explaining while at the same time allowing for exploration and discovery. Danijela provides tremendous insight into apitourism and shares their story of success. Čebelarstvo Ambrožič is a family owned operation and it shows in the authenticity. Their love of bees and passion for educating the world about them is revealed in everything they do. If you are looking for a place to spend an hour or more learning about bees, this is truly the place to come. And, stop by their shop and pick up some honey or a hand-crafted bee panel designed by Danijela.

Beekeeping Tradition in Slovenia
Sep 2019
While this place can be difficult to find, it is definitely worth the effort of searching. Tucked away a few minutes outside of the tourist trap of Bled, this farm has everything you want to know about beekeeping. The owner's family has been keeping bees in this area for generations and have passed down many of the old ways of respecting both the bees and nature in general. The presentation was very informative and brought home how little I knew and understood about how everything in nature is interconnected. And there is also the wonderful honey that is for sale in the small shop there. Definitely worth a visit!

An informative experience
Jun 2019 • Family
We emailed Danijela about arranging a private tour for three of us and she replied suggesting a choice of two timings. Closer to the date, we let her know about the time of our arrival. As we stayed at Garni Hotel Berc, we walked through the residential area and country road to reach this place in the village of Selo in about 25 mins.
Before we went on the tour (6 euros each), we wore a hat with protective netting. Danijela is a warm person and she explained to us the intricacies about bee keeping. She also encouraged us to try the Bee therapy by lying on a bed. She readily answered our questions.

Bees and other pollinators, such as butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities. Pollinators allow many plants, including many food crops, to reproduce and they are key to conserving biodiversity - a cornerstone of the Sustainable Development Goals.

To raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development, the UN designated 20 May as World Bee Day. This date was chosen as it coincides with the birthday of Anton Janša, who in the 18th century pioneered modern beekeeping techniques in his native Slovenia and praised the bees for their ability to work so hard, while needing so little attention.

We also visited the gift shop and learnt what good honey is like. We also tasted some samples. After my trip to Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia, I felt that her prices are reasonable and the small bottles of honey are good gifts for families and friends back home. We walked back by another way passing a working farm where we saw brown cows and lovely houses with beautiful flowers in their gardens. Soon we arrived at Lake Bled and this walk was pleasant and scenic. Strongly recommend a walk there to visit an important industry and learnt much about the importance of bee.

Kids, Seniors EVERYONE can enjoy and learn

This was a short, informative and lots of fun educational tour. Kids and adults alike will be fascinated with the bees and the honey products are fun to taste. You also get an experience to lay down in a bunk bed and watch the bees close up and personal.

Every thing you’ve always wanted to know about bee keeping...and then some!
Oct 2018 • Friends
Our small tour group was treated to an educational, informative hour long tour by a very passionate bee keeper with a very engaging manner. She described how she and her husband first started out and now have many, many hives each home tom60,000 bees. As we visited on a somewhat chilly day, few bees were flying out and about and we were really able to get a close up look at the hives.

We were also treated to some of the best tasting honey...I particularly enjoyed the Spruce and was able to purchase some in the small attached store.

You do need to book ahead for a tour..you will be happy you did.

Lovely Bee farm
Sep 2018 • Couples
We thoroughly enjoyed our bee farm tour. It was a private visit vs with a big tour which made it all the more enjoyable. As I understand this farm only does private tours. The beekeeper was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a small shop where you can buy some of their homemade products made with their honey.

The first class honey
Sep 2018 • Solo
I would recommend the walk to Selo, but first call the owners and announce your visit. It is necessary because they have the farm and they are busy all the time. Once you reach the address where they have their own honey you will learn a lot about the use of the honey. I understood they organize the presentations for the groups, with the prior announcement of course, but if you are looking for specific kind of honey they will help you find it and give the explanation.

A hidden gem and off the beaten track. Before going we knew very little about bee keeping apart from that it is very important in Slovenia. We all learned a lot and tasted some of the best honey we've ever had.
Highly recommended
