- flosventureArizona219 contributionsA Must In Bled! The place to go for an amazing view of Lake Bled. The hike is about 20-30min depending on how fast you go and if you stop. There are some stairs at some point that almost go vertical so be warned about that but so worth it. The view is absolutely amazing and it's a must to do when you are in Bled!Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten June 16, 2024
- 4tuatarasAuckland Central, New Zealand188 contributionsBeautiful sights at the summit. We wanted to do this walk on our holiday (husband and myself), so hubby spent ages trying to find best and cheapest place to park in Bled. We parked i the parking area opposite the spar supermarket- on Ljubljanska cesta (road on the right as you come in to Bled). It is a wee walk (about 45 to the start of the track), but the cheapest parking rate (1.5€ per hr). Easy walking into town (stopping to buy pastries for the hike). And then we turned right once we reached the lake, and walked that way around to the start of the hike). Lovely, easy walk around the lake. Once we reached the track, we opted to take the first track that we came across first, up towards Ojstrica (the track of which then continues on to Mala Osojnica). You can choose to do M. O. first, which means you have to carry on, along the road to the other start. Most of the blogs/reviews that we read, said to do MO first. HOWEVER, we are SOOOO pleased that we did the other way, as it meant you walked up the difficult gravel ‘roads’ on the way up, rather than having to come down (which we think would be difficult). Then you take a short path on the right, up the summit which you should absolutely do! Amazing views. It is a steep track, but only about 10min. We then carried on to Mala Osojnica. And as I said earlier, so pleased we took this way, as it meant we came down the steep metal stairs, rather than trying to walk up them! The actual walk (excluding the walk around the lake) took about 1hr total. After we finished the walk up, we then just carried on walking around the lake, back to our car. The whole walk took about 3 1/2 hrs. Well worth it!!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 29, 2024
- RainSeattleMomIssaquah, Washington521 contributionsBeautiful ViewsMy husband and I biked around the lake, parked our bikes near the rowing club/lakeside, and hiked up the trail towards Ojstrica walking in a counter-clockwise direction. We kept going up to Mala Osojnica, and then down the stairs and back to the start. It was a steep but short hike up, and the views are wonderful! There are some benches at each viewpoint. I recommend hiking this loop so that you end up going down the stairs instead of up. I am in moderate shape and don't usually love elevation gain, but I was able to do it no problem.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 9, 2024
- JimRiestererEdina, Minnesota6,053 contributionsSuperb viewpointWhile it is a bit of a steep and uneven path, the view does not disappoint and we didn’t even go all the way up. After around 15 minutes things open up for a great view of the island and church. If the lighting is right (4 pm for us) you can get an amazing photo. Enter the trail from the south west corner of the lake-you’ll see a gap in the barrier to the road. Go across the street and follow the gravel road first to the right, then left around a barrier. The trail becomes a bit uneven with rock/roots etc. 20-30 min up. Bring water!Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 15, 2024

Best viewpoint ever. Absolutely terrifying hike (I’m scared of everything) but totally worth it. You know you’re almost there when you reach some really steep steps. There is a rail you can hold on to but the further up the steps you go, the further above your head the rail goes, hence why I was terrified. Glad it was a dry day as I’m not sure I would have made it in slippery conditions.
The view of the lake is absolutely stunning, it was one of my favourite parts of my trip and it was completely free!

Great views across bled from the top. Not a difficult walk, quite steep but maybe only took us 30-40mins as relatively fit people. Plenty doing it with kids too. Some comments about the danger of the oath are amusing, clearly never been into the woods before as not everything is baby proofed! Yea it’s narrow and steep in places but use your brains. Definitely worth the walk anyway, beautiful views over the lake and mountains behind

This is the best view of Bled, without a doubt.
The walk can take some time (I think it took 20-30 minutes for me, each way), and it is quite steep and a bit slippery in some places. After the steep stairs, there is a bench, and trust me, when it is 30+ degrees, you will definitely need a sit down, and to enjoy the beautiful view.
The views once at the top are breathtaking, possibly made even better if you made it up in time for sunrise. This is definitely something you should do in Bled, although, if you are scared of heights, this may not be for you.

This spot was by far our favorite viewpoint to see the lake and its island. We preferred it to both the views from the nearby Ojstrica and those from Bled Castle, as well as various from the lake level.
We hiked a circular loop basically clockwise, from the signed Mala Osojnica trailhead (where there was lockable parking for the bikes we had borrowed from our hotel), up to this viewpoint, over to the Ojstrica viewpoint, and then back around to close our loop. Just below this viewpoint (right at the top of a steep flight of stairs) there is a bench which also has some lovely view of the lake.
This viewpoint had multiple benches (3 or 4?) and a sign showing the elevation (685 m) and landmarks. As we left, there is a trail marker/sign that directs you towards Ojstrica (as well as Velika Osonjica, which we didn't visit).
From the trailhead, it took us about 35 minutes to reach this viewpoint (including a short stop at the bench just below it). We stayed here admiring the view and taking photos for about 15 minutes before proceeding onward, and the entire loop took us about an hour and a half.

Okay, so the view is incredible. It makes up for the way to it. The way is partially really narrow, so you have to hold onto a rope nailed into the wall. At the end is a steep staircase waiting for you, my legs almost left me at this point. But the view is amazing. Try the other way to it if it’s raining (better: don’t go there if it’s raining or dark).
From there you can walk further to reach the top but the view isn’t as spectacular and it’s really not for people who are afraid of heights.

Near the Bled campsite there are several routes to admire the landscape from above. On our walk we went to Mala Osojnica, Velika Osojnica and Ojstrica, in that order. Given the uphill path, between different roots and stones (when we went it was also muddy in some stretches) I recommend sneakers or even better trekking. There are several signs indicating the direction to follow. In total with an 8-year-old girl it took us about 2.5 hours, making several stops for photos and catching our breath.

By far the best views you will see of lake Bled and the island, hike itself is fairly good steep in a few places but if you are reasonably fit and healthy it will not cause you any issues.
Maybe a 30 minute climb to summit, I was lucky to view it on a cloud free day and views are stunning.
Highly recommend added this lookout point to your itinerary of Lake Bled. Loved it

Where can I park the rental car if I hike Osojnica ? Thanks
Written September 24, 2018
Sorry for the late answer; maybe it will help somebody else. :)
Lake Bled is very small. We left our car parked at our residence in town. Another option is to park near the boating center at the south-west end of the lake.
Enjoy!
