This New York-style bar is spread over two floors, two bars at Waski Dunaj 20, in a building known as the White House. Arranged in the British colonial style with a tailor-made bar, dark wood paneling, soft leather banquettes and fire place. this cozy bar offers a wide range of whiskies, champagnes and wines, premium spirits such as aged rums and luxury vodkas, as well as cocktails ranging from classics to signature ones. Cigar Aficionados have their choice from world-known brands to special Bar and Books' cigars that are exclusively hand-made at a family-run shop in New York. Live music every Friday and Saturday. Great experience, bartender knew to recommend me plenty of new whiskey's I might have not otherwise tried, and not once was I disappointed by his recommendations. Knew his whiskey very well and had this amazing positive energy with him. Got to be one of best bar trips of my life!

Situated in the Old Town (Stare Miasto) - Bar & Books is a fantastic place, which is a more upmarket than most of the surrounding bars and a little more expensive. However, it is worth paying a little extra for good service and quality and you will get this in bucket loads - The staff are excellent and attentive and there is a good range of quality drinks and cocktails. I had heard of this bar, but was not prepared for the great ambience, the whole set up oozes quality. Despite the fact we were a little under dressed for such a nice venue the hostess welcomed us - took our coats and settled us in. We chose to sit at the bar but there is plenty of choice for seating. If you like cigars you can also buy from their extensive range. I would definitely recommend a visit no football shirts please!

Walking by we thought that Bar & Books is a bookworm café but turns out it’s an elegant jazz lounge with absolutely amazing décor! It’s kind of a stylish whiskey lounge vibe. The drinks are quite expensive but you can sense the quality of the ingredients. The service is very friendly, we were seated on a little balcony with the view and our waitress check in on us regularly to make sure we didn’t need anything. Live music band was great! The only thing is that the bar chairs on the balcony are not too comfortable (but I guess it’s because the balcony is quite narrow). All in all highly recommended!

Myself and several others after having NYE dinner stopped at this place and were told they were not accepting anymore people. So we ended up going back since we were all craving for smoking some stogies. The place stayed locked which requires you to ring the bell to get access. At this time, we were greeted and taken to a nice cozy bar upstairs. I tell you, this place really sets the mood for cigar lovers. Although later we found out the bar only takes cash. Therefore, one of us had to run to get cash out of ATM that was conveniently placed at the front door which charges 6 dollars fee. You hear me right, bring your cash if you are planning on visiting this place. Other than being a bit over priced it was great atmosphere.

Was charged 25zl for a bottle of water (can buy a pint of beer in Poland for 10-15zl) while our neighbouring table was served tap water for nothing. Exploitative behaviour, Im Polish but live in Australia, take your tourist dollars elsewhere.

We stumbled across this place whilst walking around the Christmas Market (the hot fire outside drew us in) and what a find!
We loved the old 20's New York feel of the bar. The cocktails were extensive and the bar man very friendly.
It is pricey, but pricey for Warsaw, still cheaper than you'd get if this was in London.
Highly recommend going in for one drink.

What a fun little bar. We walked by and went in. The drink selection is excuisite and the staff was super nice. Drinks were delish, can’t wait to visit the one in New York.

Stumbled across this little bar. Lovely atmosphere, dimly lit and cosy. Staff were lovely, and the cocktails were amazing. Large choice of spirits and cigars. The only down side was being asked if we were leaving a tip. Which I thought was bad form. We were tipping anyway but feel that we shouldn’t be asked.

Staff was probably asking for the tip because of the terminal on pay, staff should ask and put there amount -
because of that they were asked. Sometimes it happened, that somebody put to the tip amount PIN code and
than problems are coming:-)

An exquisite bar, not for everyone. Containing a great variety of whiskey and rum etiquettes (also cigars) it is worth a visit for someone wanting to spend a little extra money on a good drink. I had a great dark spiced rum (recommended by the waiter and the barista) accompanied by a little piece of tasty dark chocolate. If you don't mind spending a little more money, I would recommend it.

On my request to split the bill into several, as we had some drinks with a large group of people, the waiter Wiktor refused, saying: “We have clients who order Champaign bottles each costing more than your total bill”. I believe this is unacceptable for a place of any level and price.

Dear customer, we were trying to figured out, what's happened that evening!
For the first - you were lucky, that we took you - because normally we don't take large groups of people (max.8) with no reservation, when we are busy. But we make the exception and we took you.
But I'm so sorry it's impossible split the bill into the 20 pieces, when we are very busy. . . .
That one with champagne was probably misunderstanding.

Bar and Books Podwale is not small at all, there are two floors and enough space and seats. However, this is a busy period so prior reservation is highly recommended especially for Fri and Sat eves.

I had the idea to make a suprise for my fiance while we are spending few months in Poland, and i was looking where i can find a nice place to listen some Jazz Music, eat and spend a really romanic moment before Christmas. Then i found "Podwale Bar and Books"!.
I red all the comments and it looks amazing so, i was wondering if i can have more information from the staff about the events and if there is a jazz band coming in December before the 20th?
