Cool railway museum with plenty of models and bits and pieces inside but the magic stuff is outside where there are many trains parked in a few rows that you can go and walk amongst and climb into. Very interesting to see the old Polish and Soviet trains that are very foreign to someone that grew up in Australia! We met one of the operators of the museum who was very proud of the museum and was quite chuffed that someone all the way from Australia wanted to visit it!

Rather little and old style museum. Under roof part contains two middle size rooms with lot of beatifull models on locomtives and trains and some moving dioramas, Open air part has big colections of steam, disiel and electric locomtives. To some ofthem you can enter inside. Unfortunatelymost this exponates are in poor state and need renovation. this museum has a big potential but should be better organized, more animated and open air part need more care. Still it can be big atractions for young and older boys and people interested in railway

I actually stumbled upon this place a few years ago and just went in and had a look and was warmly welcomed even though they couldn't speak much English , cost approx £2 to get in but well worth it to see the attractions , there are 4 rooms with exhibits in etc and a few coin operated model railway displays , and an outside exhibit area with approx 50 steam electric and diesel locos and even a few carriages, well worth a visit , it is based in the old Warsaw glowny station too , there are toilets and a small seating area in summer drinks and snacks are available from vending machines and there is a museum shop!

Beautiful collection of scale models and prototype locomotives and rolling stock. They even have a few war-time German military railway cars. Train lovers will love this place. Situated within a former train station, and platform, offers an air of nostalgia. The only downside is that many of the items in the collection are notated in Polish only, so if you cannot read Polish, it may be a bit challenging. Still, a lot of eye-candy for train lovers.

A nice way to spend a couple of hours if you're a railway buff (I'm not) or just like trains (I do). Nice main hall with many scale models and memorabilia of various stages of Poland's railways (and a little on the general history of trains). Also a side show about their catering service, WARS. Outside a decent selection of 20th century rolling stock. Among the best are a great German engine from the '30s and a rare armoured train. The place is apaprently in a long-running battle with PKP to be evicted; sadly the rolling stock does feel as if it is being left to the elements somewhat... not a good sign for the longevity of this museum.

Almost all in Polish but not much less enjoyable for that unless you're into the technical details.

Most of the outside engines are still barracaded off for building work so very little can be photographed. Inside some good large scale models but descriptions only in Polish.

July 2nd 2019 - 70% of the locomotives outside are barricaded off as much needed building work is taking place.

Well done to the museum for investing in upgrades - but check before visiting what access you will get.

Overall this is a great little train museum - with some truly unique exhibits. It's not the biggest collection in the world - nor is it the best maintained or presented - but for a couple of hours with someone interested in trains it should be a great visit - especially as it is very low cost - I paid 6PLN to get in - about £1.30.

The inside of the museum has a fantastic collection of models and 3 or 4 model railways. These are beautifully presented. A range of equipment and uniforms are also displayed. However inside the information seemed all to be in Polish - which is fine - but there seemed to be no other language information available.

The outside of the museum is striking. It is effectively an old station with 3 or 4 platforms with about 40 loco's and items rolling stock.

Star exhibit is the armoured train and artillery car - but there are several other items of interest. Unfortunately none of the rolling stock was open on the day - but I did get a peak inside the artillery car tagging onto the end of a school party.

Outside the exhibits have information in both Polish and English so that was a little more helpful

So very interesting for train fans - but be aware renovation is going on which might limit what you can see.

The Warsaw Railway Museum - static exhibits, some layouts and a large number of steam and electric locos stored outside. The internal displays and models chart the development and history of the Polish railways including the rebuilding after WW2 and during the 1970's - and also cover the ongoing development of the network including electrification and high speed trains.

There is a static exhibition of steam, electric and a few diesel locomotives outside in the old disused Warsaw Main (Glowna) railway station plus interesting rolling stock. (It reminded me in parts of Dai Woodhams scrapyard in South Wales at the end of the BR steam era)

Having grown up being dragged round the country chasing trains by my dad, there was no way I was missing this out on our trip to Warsaw.
It looks a like a derelict station from the outside, but inside and in the back yard, it's a different world!
Inside is fine if you like model trains, but there are few English captions so it's hard to get a sense of the history.
Outside is where the excitement starts - there is an impressive collection of locomotives and carriages to get up close to and even stand in.
We spent a good couple of hours here and were delighted with what was on offer.
It probably helps if you have a passing interest in trains but even if you don't, you'd probably still enjoy it because how often are you going to get this close to actual pieces of history?!

Well laid out and maintained exhibits and plenty of photographs. English translation on majority of exhibits. The external engines and carriages were an added bonus. Excellent value for money.
