- Lizara K195 contributionsNicely doneIt's clear a lot of money has gone into this museum. They have, for the most part, used that money quite well, with lots of interactive exhibits. One thing I really do appreciate is that in a museum about a musician, there was a lot of focus on Chopin's music and a lot of chances to listen to and explore his music. A lot of this was really clever, like the piano you put sheet music over to hear it played. There could have been a little more concrete biographical information to go along with the displays, and I would recommend that anyone who doesn't already know about Chopin's life read up on it first before visiting so you have that framework to know where everything fits. Some information is presented in a rather piecemeal way on interactive touchscreens which take longer and are less informative than simple text labels and descriptions would have been. I thought the entry fee was about right for what you get out of the museum, but there is also a free admission day on Sundays for those who want to do this a bit more cheaply.Visited January 2020Written January 26, 2020
- Laura RUnited Kingdom166 contributionsWould recommend to all pianists / musiciansWe took a trip to Warsaw at the end of February (so this review is pre-covid) for my birthday and this was my chosen activity! It was great, really well laid out and lots of interactive exhibits. I particularly loved the room where you could listen to all his different works and the piano which played the music you selected which could be viewed from the overhead gallery. I really wish I’d come here years earlier as a music student. If you’re in the area and you love music, whether you play or read it all, I’d recommend a visit here. Also, read / listen to what he had to say about his time in the UK in the room that talks about his travels ...Visited February 2020Written September 10, 2020
- Arthur CBallan, Australia415 contributionsWonderful MuseumIt will t a ke you a couple of hours to see all this Museum has to offer. Set out on four floors the Museum is dedicated to just tjis one composer, but does touch on the lives colleagues and lovers alike. Your ticket allows you to activate various exhibits. I was off the understanding that my ticket should activate English translations, but either i was mistaken, or I had the wrong ticket. A great museum and well worth a visit.Visited February 2020Traveled soloWritten February 9, 2020

You had very high expectations before visiting this museum! Wherever I had read positive reviews! modern museum, interactive museum, amazing experience etc etc ...
I found it boring and totally chaotic.
Most interactive panels were not working, incomplete or captions so extensive as to be redundant and excessive.
Released this way you only have sore feet and a great confusion in my head. Do not we just! @gargio76

Last time I visited the museum I was really satisfied, yet it was almost two years ago. Now we had bought tickets well in advance, and when we wanted to enter the building, we were asked to wait since some employees did not show up to work on time!!! In general, the employees were not attentive and most of them had an attitude! The two pianos on exhibit were covered with plastic sheets and cardboard, and next to one of them we read an info that the pianos need to be conserved against bugs, and the smell in the room was unbearable, I've got a headache and a sore throat because of the chemicals used for disinfection. The pianos are to be treated that way for 21 days, and I think the museum should rather be closed for public, or at least they should offer some discount as the tickets are not cheap. There is no air conditioning inside the building, so with the chemical smells inside the visit becomes unbearable. Quite a lot of objects were "temporarily out of display", I counted almost up to 20 of of them. In general, visiting the museum is not worth the money you pay for the ticket.

Had to come to pick up the tickets at 11 a.m. to get in there. Have to notice that there were no leaflets in English, no maps or anything like that at all.
With tickets we went to the museum where member of staff STOPPED us saying, that not all members of staff are present yet, so they can't let us in!!! After a few minutes of waiting we were allowed to get in.
Inside was pretty disappointing, even the lack of oxygen to breathe and no air conditioning whatsoever, all windows tightly closed! I started to sweat after about 10 minutes. Have to mention small vending machine with water, hidden round one of the corners, but no cups... And lovey terrace closed for visitors!!!
Not enough lightning, especially on the objects. I couldn't see clearly enough. In some of display cabinets light hasn't been working at all! Some of the interactive objects didn't work!!!
Many of the objects were removed, some without any explanation or apologies. Two of the pianos in the museum were covered with plastic, with cardboard underneath. On one of them was an explanation that they are conserving it against the bugs, by nitrification for 21 days!!! I am just hoping it was poisonus only for the bugs, as I get terrible headache straight away!!!
Two weird, schizophrenic video installations with aggresive, flashing picture and no warning for people suffering from epilepsy...
Have to mention very bored staff, some of them chatting, reading a book or even picking the nose...

We spent over three hours inside the museum; it is an interactive experience with in depth information about the life of F. Chopin. The correct address is Tamka street 43, zip code 00-355 as shown on the receipt. The museum is located in the 17th century Ostrogski Castle. If you love Chopin's music, it is a must-see in Warsaw. Book tickets in advance; online or on site.
The cellars below the bastion of the castle were the home to a Golden Duck, a mythical creature from one of Warsaw's legends. The little monument of the Golden Duck is around the corner from the entrance of the museum.
One of the musical benches in Warsaw is located in the park above the castle. Enjoy the fresh air and music of Chopin, by a click of the button.

The visit was very interesting. We learned a lot about Chopin's intense life. Sadly he left this world too soon. We enjoyed the whole visit. There was a lot to see, to read, to discover. This place must be in the to do list.

This is a lovely interactive museum dedicated to the very famous and talented Polish composer and a virtuoso pianist - Frédéric Chopin.
The museum resides in a lovely house, next to a nice park.
The museum consists of several floors, that follow in detail Chopin's short life and travels around Europe.
Some exhibits feature excerpts from his compositions, while other feature photocopy of notes.
You need at least a good hour to thoroughly explore the museum.
Be sure to visit on a Sunday, when the entrance is free. Otherwise, it's apx. 6 USD, which is a tad expensive for Warsaw and for what the museum is.

A visit to this museum is well worth the time and the inexpensive entrance fee. The museum is very well done and thoughtfully displays in chronological order the short but brilliant life of Chopin.
One is self-guided through the museum from floor to floor, with multi-media stations at which one listens to audio narration while looking at exhibit items.
Best not to rush through this museum as it was worth our time to go through all the exhibits. After our 3-hour visit we learned much about Chopin and appreciated even more the musical genius that he was.

We visited this museum last week and wished we had not bothered.I have loved the music of Chopin all my life and I feel this museum is a great disservice to the great Polish genius. The 'techies' who put this in place were clearly scoring points over each other .I cant believe this was allowed to happen. They do not appreciate at all the music
of Chopin. My advise would be dont go.Stay at home and listen to his music in peace.
And just by the way the chap who sells the tickets could do with going on a customer care course.

I am a big admirer of Chopin. His music is beautiful and touching. So this museum was the biggest to-see for me in Warsaw. I am a bit disappointed with the setup. The interactive machines mostly didnot work properly. And in my opinion all this posh setup is not necessary for a classical music master. I wish the place was more simple and reflected the time of the master. I felt like walking in a space ship. Still lots of imformation though. It was great to see his letters, birth records, hospital records, hair, death mask and his last piano.

I was excited to visit this museum and learn about the life, achievements and death of Chopin. I left having gained little knowledge. The museum is set in a beautiful venue and yet was filled with interactive technology (or what should have been interactive, had it worked!). These modern displays really took away the classical element. Unfortunately, little information is provided about Chopin and little is on display. Very disappointing.

I sent Chopin museum emails.
Because I want to book tickets.
But I still don’t get reply.
So what do I have to do?

Next time, just go there. Only in extremely rare exceptions like Paris-Louvre or Amsterdam-Rijksmuseum it makes sense to pre-book museums.
Normally, walk up, get your ticket and walk.in.

Does the museum have a piano Chopin really played?

Yes. In Chopin Museum we have Chopin's last piano made by Pleyel. Chopin played on that instrument during tournee to Scottland and UK.
