My second tour with Gawel and he was as fabulous as ever! The Jewish walking tour was so interesting, so impactful and, irrespective of your background or beliefs, I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Warsaw. Gawel has an unending chest of knowledge and his story telling is emotive and evocative. He manages to share such a harrowing history in an empathetic way and respectful way. A must do for anyone visiting Warsaw.

Our brief visit to Warsaw was made so much better by our tour guide, who shared her passion and knowledge of this fantastic city with us. Her English is impeccable and she is both professional and approachable.
The old town tour was just the right length on a hot afternoon... although there were a couple of shaded stops along the way.
We would definitely recommend the Orange Umbrella tours to anyone who wants to find out about the city from a person who lives, loves and shares it openly.

Always believing a walking tour is the best way of discovering the fabric of a city, our two Orange Umbrella Free Tours did not disappoint in any way! Starting on the day of arrival, we did the 'World War II in Warsaw' tour with Max. Despite the fact that he only had two couples on the tour, and he arguably would have earned less money from such a small group, he still had time for all our questions which meant, along with his thorough answers delayed his finish time by 45 mins. He checked in with us as he could see the finish time was not going to be met but our little group was so fascinated by the historical stories that were being told to us, that we all asked him to please carry on!
The next day we had booked the 'Best of Warsaw' tour and were delighted to see Max again standing, waiting already, on the steps of Sigismund's Column, with his orange umbrella and Union Jack, despite the fact we were 15 minutes early. A bigger group this time (seven), he juggled carefully the task of ensuring it was a completely 'new' tour for us (and the other couple from yesterday who also booked again) and his enthusiasm for his city meant that we learned so much again. He has a great knack of interpreting historical events and linking the causes and effects which then makea sense of so much of what you now see in Warsaw.
Max also, correctly reading our eagerness to understand as much as we could for such a complicated history as Warsaw, recommended some books which he suggested we would enjoy for further reading. I would highly recommend to anyone I knew who was going to Warsaw - and do it early on after arrival.

I absolutely recommend these tours! I attended the Old town tour in the morning and the Jewish tour in the afternoon of 2nd January 2020. Both tours were led by Asia, who was smiling, welcoming, professional and showed no loss of enthusiasm with the increasing cold :)
Going to the tour, my only aim was to get to know Warsaw a little bit more as my information about it was very limited. During the Old Town tour, Asia told us about the incredible history of this city and its people, how it was destroyed and how it was rebuilt again. Asia clearly loved sharing her culture and history with us and her passion was contagious. By the end of the tour I was rather amazed by all the information I had heard. I was looking at the same streets with different eyes, touched by the incredible story of the complete rebirth of this city.
The Jewish tour was equally interesting. Asia did not have an easy job as at some parts it was a difficult story to tell and we also had to imagine many things that she was talking about because everything was destroyed during the WWII. During some parts of the tour I had goosebumps going down my spine, thinking about how much of human suffering, but also courage and resilience occurred some decades ago in the very places where we were standing.
The tour was well organised and it ended in the Polin museum where I went after.
I really enjoyed both tours and I still remember a lot of information from them. Visiting a city you know nothing about, there is no better way to get to know it other than with a local person who loves it and loves to share their passion for their culture. It makes all the difference. Thank you Asia for both tours, they were fantastic!

The tour was excellent! Our tour guide was Gavel and I could notice his great interest and knowledge about the whole topic! The tour was made even nicer by visual experiences (photos from the past) and he did a good job engaging everyone into the process. He showed interest into the reason why we are visiting the city and why we are interested into the tour's topic in particular. Although it was a lot of information, I could listen to it very well till the end and I was becoming more interested into the topic because of the high quality of the tour and the interactive learning. Thank you very much Gavel! I can only recommend it to anyone who is interested or who just seeks to learn about something new.

We took two tours with Goska. She was such a joy and made two freezing cold days bearable with her warmth. Her depth of knowledge and level of passion for Warsaw was unparalleled. We've taken these types of tours all over the world, and the two tours we took with Goska were two of the best we've ever taken. We loved how she shared some of her life and what it's like to live in Warsaw with us. She also gave some great tips on where to get good meals (and she was spot on!) and places that tourists might want to avoid.
We also took a tour with a gentleman whose name we unfortunately can't recall. He was also very good and we learned a great deal from him.
Warsaw is an incredibly underrated city and we hope to return soon before the word gets out and it becomes overrun with "Instagram" types of tourists rather than travelers who take the time to learn the history and culture of the places they visit.

Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in WW2. Arek gave us a really interesting overview of the events and how Warsaw and its inhabitants were affected by it all. Arek was super passionate about the city’s history and he was keen to answer our questions. He’s an OG Warsowian and he happily shared some tips on other cool places to visit too. This is a must do tour when visiting Warsaw!

We went on a walking tour in Warsaw with my friends and I was actually surprised how beautiful Warsaw is. You always hear about bombing during WW2 and how much was the city destroyed but then you walk in the old town and have feeling that it was not touched at all. Our guide Julia was very nice, gave us a lot of interesting information and was very keen to answer all our questions. She also recommended a place where to eat and what else to do. Thanks for that :)

Our family participated in all Orange Umbrella Tours. Our guides Albert, Gawel, and Max were fantastic. They were informative, professional, fun, and enjoyed telling stories and answering questions about their city. We would recommend any of the tours for a great way to experience Warsaw through the eyes and voice of an informed local. Thank you Gawel, Albert, and Max! Max, we loved that you incorporated the experiences of your Grandmother.

Gośka was a fantastic guide. Visiting many cities in Europe, I always prioritise going on a free walking tour on my first or second day to get my bearings around the city. Gośka happens to be one of the first local guides I have come across. She is passionate about her city and was very informative and accommodating. I enjoyed learning about the Old Town and its relatively recent history, a testament to the tenacity and bravery of the Polish people. The pace of the tour was great and the amount of information was just right. I would highly recommend it to anyone new to the city and keen to learn more about the Old Town and how it came to be.

What is the maximum number of people on this tour?
Written January 19, 2020
I believe they can have up to 15 without having a second guide.
Written February 3, 2020
where about does the route take you? on average? I'm not sure either to do this tour or take the "adventure warsaw" bus tour?!?!
Written February 10, 2019
The tour takes you mainly around the old town. As it is a walking tour (approx 2 hours loop), you can well imagine the area it covers is not huge. However, you get to hear stories and history of where are standing. It is probably more personal than sitting on a bus and looking at sceneries.
