We found it interesting and the exhibits also had English translations including English subtitles for some of the video installations.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 1, 2020

Funny enough, didn’t see the place beyond the lobby. As you enter though the back door, right pass the toilets, you walk straight to a coat room. Turns out you must check in your coat or you can’t enter. It was +5c outside and about the same in that lobby, So I asked nicely to keep my light puffer jacket. Two attendants started screaming and waving me away quite rudely. Oh well, this makes it the first museum in the world where you are denied entry because you didn’t get undressed in winter temperatures. Comical really.

I was under the impression that this an art gallery with paintings. It was some horrible modern art made from scraps of angle iron and rebar, that took 5 minutes to look at. I was very disappointed and asked for a refund but was given the standard airhead response that this was not possible. What a big rip off even if it was free.

Zacheta gallery is in a old beautiful palace and offers the interested visitor a great experience in modern art. Changing exhibitions are always interestingly curated.

I visited the gallery one evening and there were four exhibitions there, one of which was of Polish folklore following WWII. There is a cloak room at the entrance that doesn't charge. I purchased the standard entry with the exhibition brochure, which describes all of the exhibitions in further detail. The architecture of building is worth seeing inside and out. If you appreciate art, then this is the place to visit when in the city.

Beautiful building with good contemporary art exhibition.
It was a pity 2 of the 3 exhibitions were only in Polish - and did not have english subtitles - so I couldn't understand the videos and documentaries.
Worth visiting if you are an art lover.

I wish I could say I like the Zacheta, but every time I visit there is less on display. I understand it takes time to install an exhibition, but on my last visit only half of one of the three floors was open, and consisted of little more than preparatory sketches for performances, or who knows what. I don't know why they even bothered opening. Maybe this is a make-work project or something. There were far more staff than visitors. I have to feel sorry for the staff though- it must be terribly boring, if not embarrassing to sit in such a huge empty building all day. For me, the five minutes I spent at the latest 'exhibition' was painful enough. Imagine being stuck there for hours at a time!
A year or two before my last visit (Why do I keep coming here anyway?) one wing of the building had racks and racks of coats and dresses. Some statement about consumerist culture perhaps? No, it was very expensive clothing for sale.
The Zacheta's web site really doesn't reflect what lies or doesn't lie within the building itself.
A grand building, with so much potential, yet every time I come it is all but empty. Even though I know not to get my hopes up, I always leave disappointed, and a few zloty poorer.

We came to Warsaw let's say randomly, after all thinking what we can do in a cold evening we decided to enjoy the opening of exhibition at Zacheta. Didn't expect the whole speech will be translated in english first, didn't expect so many people and for sure didn't expect so many works and honored artists who were attending there. It was just as it should be in a gallery of contemporary art, we saw so many interesting works and ideas.. That was just an exciting and enjoyable time we've got there, I'm still happy for that moment I've got this art dose !

Incredible iron work of Dragons, other things, fashioned into railings and stands for lamps. The Gallery is in the building itself, not in the photos displayed or other things. The building is full of statuary but none compare to the wrought iron railings and lamp stands. Honestly, I've never seen anything like it. Totally worth the 15 zloty price of admission. If you are in Warsaw, go to this!
