St. Mary's Church stands on the site of an ancient pagan place of worship strategically located on a small hill looking over the Vistula River (and the Multimedia Fountain Park) . Built in the early 15th Cent. while its tower was built a hundred years later . Considered as one of the oldest churches in Warsaw . The beautiful Gothic style brick structure , was destroyed and rebuilt a few times over the years . During WWII it was partially damaged and it took some twenty years of reconstructions to bring it to its current state (look at the fine wooden arches supporting the ceiling).

A relatively small gothic church behind the New Town in Warsaw, it's mostly known for being the oldest temple in the city. Also, there's a view of Vistula river next to it.

Someone calls out a bugle call on the hour through the window close to the top. He opens the window, makes the bugle call, waves and then closes the window. Then he moves to another window and makes another bugle call again. Look out for him for he waves to the crowd below.

The superb craftsmanship of the brickwork is wondrous. Standing back from it the full vista of church with its stepped gable and the adjoining tower is to be seen. A marvellous vista.
Inside the Gothic features are wonderful. The ceiling with the arched wooden supports is lovely. The view down the nave is awe-inspiring, leading to the high altar. It was bathed in sunlight giving it a lustrous appearance.

The lovely brick Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Warsaw (1409) also known as St. Mary's Church is located at Przyrynek street, close to the Barbican (walkable distance) and to some other churches, with beautiful surroundings. It has been modified, demolished and reconstructed several times. At the beginning, it had one nave but it was transformed into a three nave church (15th century). The church's tower (1518) is noticeable from a great distance and is depicted in the oldest images of the city. During WWII, the church was badly damaged by the German Army. After, it took long time to rebuild it (1947-1966). Nowadays, it's one of oldest buildings and one of the few remaining examples of Gothic architecture in the city. Behind the Church, there is a small park with steps that lead down to the banks of Vistula River. The interior is rather simple but nice with very quiet atmosphere. It's well kept. It looks really beautiful in the evening. Good views. Worth a peek.

We visited this church when we were in the Old Town and walked a bit North to the New Town. It's located at the Terrace where you can see the Fountain, unfortunately not running in autumn. The church was not open but you could have a look in there and see what it looked like. It shows what you see on the Picture here.

St. Mary's Church is located in a beautiful site, because if you surrounded the church, you can see wonderful views of river Wisla, and next to the views, there is a Madam Curie statue to remember this amazing woman.
Pitifully, the church was closed (as the most of churches), when we went there and it was damaged in the 2nd WW (and after reconstructed), but the outside and the views are very good!

This unique brick wall church dated back to the beginning of the 15th century.
Like most of Warsaw, it was also severely damaged during WWII, thus it was built in a somehow Gothic manner.
Like so many other churches in Warsaw, this church was closed when we arrived, during its opening hours.
