At the intersection of 4 major roads, including tram whizzing on both sides there is this peculiar circular structure, a symbol of modernist Warsaw! @gargio76

Rotunda PKO Bank Polski is one of the most recognizable symbols of Warsaw. Over 50 years it has become a favorite meeting spot in the city center.

This round building is located in the center of Warsaw next to the Palace of Culture and Science.

It was built in 1969 but destroyed in February 1979 by a gas explosion. After rebuilding, it was opened again in October 1979.

The Rotunda was demolished again in 2017. Now a new rotunda, a replica of the original one has been built.

The building has been demolished and there is only a construction site to be seen. I liked the building, as it was a meeting point used by hundreds of people.

There is nothing interesting in it except that it blew out sometime ago.
Money was flying all about the streets as it was a bank. So were the victims.
The blow was to be heard a couple of miles around it. It was said that it was a gas explosion.
That's about it.

A building with a circular ground plan, build in the 1960-ies and re-build after an explosion in 1979. It has a central location and a history for the older generation of Polish people, but not much more. There has been a bank inside most of the time.

It used to be a example of modern architecture in the past. Part of the east square modern block of investments. It is a home of the key national bank in Poland and if anything for a plus, a good meeting point. Otherwise, not worth the photos.

The Rotunda is a great meeting-point but not really an attraction. Actually it's just a bank office in an interestingly shaped building. It lies at the cross of Marszałkowska street and Aleje Jerozolimskie, a few steps away from the Centrum metro station and is impossible to mistake for anything else so use it as your meeting-point for a night out with friends. But that's just about all you can expect from it.

The NEW Rotunda - Bank Polski - has great & modern interior.
Visit a cafe on the 1st floor and enjoy the view of Warsaw Skyline incl. Palace of Culture. It is for free!

A rotunda built during the 60's, and serving as a PKO bank. A place of a deadly gas explosion later on. One of the most famous buildings in Warsaw, serving as a meeting place. Deconstructed in 2017, it is supposed to return in somewhat changed shape.

This communist style building is located close to the PKiN building (The Palace of Culture and Science) and it use to be a PKO Bank branch, famous for being damaged by an explosion in 1979 and now being renovated by the same bank.
A good way to see it better is from the PKiN building's observation terrrace.
