Theatre Square is a major square extending from the Opera to Senatorska Street.

There are also many other beautiful buildings around it: The Jablonowski Palace, The Blank Palace, and Saints Albert and Andrew's Church.

This square should not be a parking lot.

When you can manage then take a walk when the Teatr Wielki illuminated. It is wonderful. Unfortunately the square is use as a parking lot, so it is difficult to make pictures. íthe other buildings are very nice as well.

I actually like this square a lot, perhaps because it's not overly big and has some nice buildings.

The major building, giving it its name, is the classicist 19th century Grand Theatre. The chariot of Apollo on it was included in the original plans, but was only added two centuries later.

In front of it is a small and mostly hidden baroque Blanka palace. I like it.

Next to it, there's Jabłonowski palace. It served as the city hall before ww2, but was completely destroyed during the war and was only recently reconstructed, which forced the removal of the Nike of Warsaw statue to a new place. This reconstruction was criticised, as it's only the facade, but it's better than nothing.

The church next to it is a reconstruction too, in classicist style. It serves the artists, but there was a fire in it shortly after the reconstruction. It is covered with an inscription commemorating the words of John Paul II he said during his first papal visit to Poland.

The rest of the buildings are less interesting.

There are also statues of men who contributed to the history of Polish theatre, with nice postuments, and the Warsaw meridian.

But there are too many cars parked there.

Theater Square is not that famous place to see, but for sure it is worth visiting, especially that it is close to Old Town. I recommend to visit it at night as the Grand Theater is beautifully illuminated. If you would have a chance you could see an opera show or classical music concert. But have in mind that you would need to purchase tickets much in advance as usually everything is booked. It this area you will also find many nice restaurants. My favourite is Onngi, a Korean restaurant on Moliera street. If you want to have some beers Resort bar is open till late at night even during the week.
