In short words: it monumental, powerful, in good localisation. Good place to spend a while, especially it is so close to the old town.

The monument is dedicated to those who died during the Nazi occupation of Warsaw and depicts a woman with a raised sword in her right hand. Both the woman's hands are raised above her head as if in an attacking posture. The bronze statue is placed on a tapering rectangular stone pedestal.

The statue is a tribute to those who died during the Nazi occupation of the city and is definitely worth a short visit.

The Monument to the Heroes of Warsaw, which some know also as Warsaw Nike, is one of my favourite monuments. It portrays a half leaning woman who is holding a sword above her head. It was built in memory of those who died in II WW, while protecting the capital from Nazis. Nike in ancient Greek religion was a symbol of victory. I think that it was a great choice for a symbol of fighting Warsaw. There is so much beauty in the body and motion of Warsaw Nike. You can see how brave and strong she is as heroes of II WW were.

Must-see in Warsaw. A monument that commemorates heroes of Warsaw protecting the city during World War II. It is near the Old Town in a park. Careful, there are homeless and drunk people sleeping on benches and on the lawns, so it is best not to visit in the evening.

This monument dates back to the communist era, and the style is evident when you view the monument. The area where it is located seems a bit run down and it seems to be a popular area for the homeless to hang around. It's nice enough to look at but not really worth going out of your way to see.

A.K.A - "Warsaw Nike" . The 7 meters tall ,10 tons cast metal sculpture is erected on a 14 meters high granite pedestal , and is impressively towering over the surroundings . It symbolizes the heroic brave strength of the people of Warsaw during WWII : It commemorates the Warsaw Uprising , The Ghetto Uprising , and all the victims of German terror in war time Warsaw .

When I grew up in communist Poland, this statue, then located in a more prestigious place in front of the Grand Theatre, was widely known.

Warsaw was nearly utterly destroyed by the war, and the city wanted a statue commemorating the ww2 history of the city. But, unlike the more nuanced reality, it is a symbol a victory, known as the Nike of Warsaw.

It shows a woman, naked from the waste up, with a strong chest of an East Germany's swimming chempion, who throw herself in front, holding a great sword.

Today it is located next to the East-West Route, a bit behind the Theatre Square.

This is an unusual choice of monument and yet a fitting one showing that good prevails in the end. It is a fitting tribute to those who struggled during the dreadful war conditions in Warsaw. As with all these monuments very poignant and brings a tear to the eye.

A good monument dedicated to the Heroes of Warsaw that shows an unusual Nike - the god of victory - in a very angry and wild stance. Noting special but take a look if near
