Not far from the Old Town Square we happened to encounter the simple and modest building of the Franciscan Church.
The exterior and the simple design did not prepare us for the "amazing" sights that awaited us inside the church's interior - one of the most amazing churches I have ever seen !!!
The stunning ceiling paintings are breathtaking.
The whole church is filled with wonderful amazing Baroque Style artworks.
MOST AMAZING.
Unfortunately we arrived at the church in the middle of the prayer and out of respect for the holy place and the worshipers, I had to reduce the photography so that I did not take much of the amazing works, pictures and sculptures that filled the church.
I am sure that I will return to Poznan in the future with the MAIN aim of completing the photos I missed on this trip.

Unassuming from its plastered exterior, the interior is a uniquely appointed and architecturally diverse. The Madonna chapel to the left of the main alter is like nothing I have seen before (having visited several across Europe). The chapel's alter is crafted from ebony giving it a dramatic look. Don't forget to look up - the ceiling's fresco is three dimensional, with figures (God etc.) reaching his arms out to earth. It is a unique corner of the church not to be missed!

We visited this church which from the outside gives no indication of the overwheming display of gilding, marble, statuary and frescoes contained within. Built between 1674- 1728 the church is full and every surface carved wood, gilded, painted or stuccoed. A visual feast but perhaps difficult to absorb all at once.

Whenever we're in Poznań we drop by here. My Polish wife and I had our church wedding here in July 1992. It's a beautiful church with ornate carvings and an aura of calm and contemplation. As you you snake your way through Poznan Old Town, you should pop in here
