The axeman. In the middle age the city council had the right to punish its citizen. This is to remember on those days. It is a very popular meeting point.

It is an octagonal, late-gothic column, on the head of which is the figure of a hangman in a knight's costume with a raised sword.
The pillory was used to execute the punishment of flogging and stigmatization, cutting off ears, fingers or hands until 1848.
The pillory was repaired quite often. In the nineteenth century, the pillory was damaged - the head and shoulder and the right arm of the hangman were knocked out. Currently, there is a copy made by Marcin Rożek from 1925 on the market, while the original is in the Museum of the History of the City of Poznań in the Town Hall. Currently, it is a popular meeting place. Regardless of the season or weather, someone is waiting for someone there.

Photographed by many, this is a copy, as the original was showing its age. The original is in the town hall museum next door. Bit of a gruesome tale behind it.
