The top of the tower gives you the best view of the old market square.
Actually nothing much to see expect for the view and the museum of applied art next to it.
I would probably take you less then an hour.

The view is spectacular. The journey to the top is easy via well functioning elevators. You go from 0 to 5. You cannot stop at the floors in between and its a very refreshing view, calm and quite. Its a very big observation deck. Some observation decks are very small and cramped but this has lots of space, lots of windows to look out of. We thoroughly enjoyed and spent quite a bit of time there.

The Royal Castle whose greatest attraction is the view of the panorama of Poznan. Disabled people can get inside by a separate entrance. Inside there is a lift to the 6th floor. You can admire the view of the city from the penultimate storey through the glass, or go up the stairs one more floor and look from the outside. At the top of the window in the wall are already small with metal bars. It does not change the fact that the view is good although incomplete. The entrance is 12zl for the museum and terrace. It is much better to go there afternoon, especially in a sunny day. A place worth recommending, great views, the only downside is the opening hours, I recommend.

When we visited Poznan the observation deck was not open but viewing the tower is cool ,it's a great structure that dominates this part of the city ,the Royal Castle dates from the 1200's ,mostly destroyed during World War Two and rebuilt post war ,it's a great piece of architecture ,it's an emblematic building ,the observation deck and castle tower is most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Gora Przemysła.

Unfortunately the castle was closed when I was in Poznan for the 15 August Bank Holiday. Looked impressive from outside though!

It's obviously reconstructed, but hey, a castle is a castle.

You shouldn't climb, there is an elevator which brings you to the viewing platform. You can go around and see basically the whole city from the top. You can make good photos too from the Old Town.

Excellent views from the tower - you get to the top in a lift so it's easy. The only thing is that the views are behind glass which is a shame but you can see everything for quite a long way. Worth a trip. Free on Tuesdays!!

Poznan was quite successful without its "royal" castle for centuries but, apparently, the local inhabitants could not do with one, imperial castle alone. So they built a fake medieval castle in the very centre of their city. If you are into medieval fake stuff, you should be delighted. Otherwise, I can only repeat what was once said about the view from the Eiffel Tower - it is the most beautiful view in Paris because it is the only place from which you cannot see the Tower. The same holds true about this castle - when you get to the top of the observation tower, you can't see the castle.
