I recommend coming here with a tour guide. It is not expensive at all while it enriches the whole experience. Most of the pieces of art you can see gain so much from the stories behind them. The lives of the artists are very interesting as well.
It is worth to mention that the place is adapted for diabled people. There are lifts, little chairs you can take with you and sit in front of the exhibits, assistant at the front desk knows sign language while the tour guide can adapt the way of speaking to make it more comfortable for people with autism.

An exhibition prepared for viewers of all ages. Their diversity - paintings, photographs, videos played on TVs - makes these exhibitions unique. The exhibitions feature 20th and 21st century art, making it understandable to all. Great museum location so you can explore the rest of the city

The museum collection of contemporary art by artists from Polish and foreign. Very interesting collection. The Museum is located in the city center and has a new branch in the mall "Manufaktura". All interested avant-garde art, highly recommended. Branch of the museum is also Herbst Palace - which presents the interior of the palace of industrialists in Lodz at the turn of the nineteenth / twentieth century.

This is a must, you will go back in time. Understanding how hard it was to live in the old Lodz at the time, factory giving jobs and controlling people.

The old town house shell of Museum Sztuki is something of a mismatch for the contemporary art inside, but somehow it works. An exhibit title Contemporary Demonism by Angela Markum was an incredible portrait of horrors like Chernobyl. An exhibit of two minute clips of people doing work was uttlerly fascinating. It showed scenes of workers managing a complex loom, making Kosher matza, accounting, cutting down trees, performing surgery. The top floor Neoplastic exhibits were a fascinating slice of 20th century art history. The staff doesn't speak much English and signage is minimal. Exhibits are individually priced, but you can purchase a carnet that covers everything. There's a very good cafe and a minimal bookstore. If you are in Lodz, definitely visit this museum.

This won't be a long stop, but it is an interesting collection of modern art. There is something for everyone: video, paintings and mixed methods. Very nicely laid out.

Well set out and priced cheaply, in the central Lodz location of Manufaktura, this relatively small museum is worth a visit. But....the collection seems to focus heavily on the sad side of life, with many of the items war related or depicting struggles of one sort or another. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I came away from the Museum rather depressed, and with the impression that the vast majority of Polish artists (alive and dead) are all unhappy. Maybe that's a reflection of the country's history, but I'm sure that there are many artists who have a strong sense of humour and enjoy life, so maybe the curator could find a small corner or two to add a lighter touch to the galleries.

Fascinating collection of mainly Polish modern/contemporary art with connections to better known artists/movements in the 'west'. What makes the collection so wonderful is the point/counterpoint between these two bodies of work. There is a real dialogue going on, without any sense at all hierarchy. For those (like me) that dont know the Polish scene, the energy and quality of the local art is exhilarating. Truly eye opening. And when one considers the trauma of the Polish C20, the accomplishment is even more extraordinary.

Tickets are extremely cheap, if you're under 26 you will visit the exhibitions for 1 PLN! And I guarantee it's worth a lot more - fine international and Polish artists are displayed there and it's definitely worth an hour of your time (it's not a big exhibition, I would say they're prefering quality over quantity.
