An amazing unique museum I have ever visited. There are lots of original cinematic exibits beginning from very very old and finishing with modern devices of our times.
The figures of animation cartoons for adults and children, posters of the best Polish movies, oscars of differrent types and forms and one floor for children with old, but still actual Polish cartoons. The exibits for the King Size film outdoors will surprise you pleasantly. Enjoy!

I really enjoy the idea of placing a muzeum of cinema into the Karl Wilhelm Scheibler's Palace. While learning about cinema history you can walk through the original palace rooms. The staff is really helpful and makes sure you are leaving a particular room with enough of knowledge. Especially about the Scheiblers family been up-to-date and trendy and a story of how actually a smoking coat got its’ name. 🚬

This is a great museum. I did not know I would find a gem like this in Lodz. There are interesting and informative exhibits. Lots of unique tools of the trade to see.

The Museum of Cinematography was very interesting for me. They had all my favorite childhood cartoons. It was some sort of time travel. They also have some great old cinema machinery which is interesting to see. The building itself is very nice, too. If I go there again, I will not hire a group guide as she was VERY slow, she basically told us the story of each brick in the wall. You can buy some minor souvenirs at the entrance but do not expect a giant shop with a luxury cafeteria.

Having lived in Lodz for many years but never having visited it before, when my parents came I thought it would be a great place to show them. After all, Lodz is the home of cinema in Poland.

When we went in, I asked if there was any information in English - even just a leaflet would have been nice. I was given a bound brochure of dry information about the villa the museum is located in. That's all. And the woman made sure to remind me to hand it back at the end.

Walking through the museum, there are many artefacts connected with cinema, it's true, but without anything in English to tell you what you're looking at, you could be walking through a junk shop and you wouldn't know the difference.

When you get to the part where you're walking around the villa, follow the advice of the women who sit in those rooms at your peril. At one point, we were told to go upstairs and turn right. So we did, only to be barked at that it was closed, and then have the door slammed in our faces.

Overall, it was rather a boring visit. Yes, it was nice to see a villa preserved in its original style, but since the purpose of the visit was to see the museum of cinematography and perhaps learn a bit about Polish cinema, it was a wasted visit. Oh, and one final thing - they could do a bit of work on their signage (in any language). It's another one of those places where you have to follow arrows to work out where you're going, but they don't always lead you where they should.

This museum is hosted in apalace of a former owner of one of the factories of Lodz, who had to demonstrate his wealth. The original and recovered rooms are impressive. The cinema content of the museum is weird. There are a lot of old machines for the cinema industry, an interesting wooden machine showing stereo images to a bunch of people at the same time, some big props in the garden, a kromaki system, and a lot of puppets used for stop motion takes. A lot of information is provided in Polish only.

Even if you're not a big fan of cinema history, I believe it's worth visiting and learning more about animation, movies and equipment used to make movies in the past.

Don't forget to try delicious coffee there!

Overview of cinematography in general is very good, especially the technical side is very well represented. Posters of old film with an international flavour. I was slightly disappointed about the connection with Lodz Film school, famous pupils and teachers were difficult (or not) to find
