Nice monument to a Polish guy who helped the US during our revolution. Nice church as well. Part of a long walking street with lots of shops and restaurants (and, unfortunately, vacant buildings) that has seen better days. Still some nice features, though. Worth walking if you are in Lodz.

It used to be one of the finest squares in Lodz. A true representation of the city. I really loved the place. It has not been renovated for years, you can see only a shadow of its old glory nowadays. It is a shame. The square is located at the beginning of the longest (4.9 km), central and most famous street in the city, Piotrkowska Street. It is also very close to the Manufaktura Shopping Mall, the gigantic shopping mall, leisure complex and arts center. There is a fine statue of Tadeusz Kosciuszko in the middle of the square on a tall column. It is really worth visiting although it needs a quick and complete renovation!

Nice open space that links together Piotrkowska Street, the Park, Old Town Square, Manufaktura Centre etc. Lots of trams converge here. There are places to sit, an old church, ethnographic museum and some shops. Good landmark in the city centre to use as a meeting place.

Plac Wolnosci really never has been an exciting or lively square. There's a central area but no cafe or anywhere to sit. It's at the end of the best part of Piotrkowska Street so it's kind of the turnaround point if you're walking. It's not really an attraction at all but more of an intersection with a statue in the middle. I wouldn't make the trip just to see that.
If you have made it all the way up to the square, I suggest walking further north on Nowowiejska street where you will come upon a really nice park on both sides of the street. If you continue on, you will run into the old square of Lodz! No one ever comes here, it's one of the little hidden gems of the city.

A fine square. Nothing too special but a nice bookend to a walk on Piotrkowska. Pleasant and relaxed. Could use a bit of touching up.

It’s not the beach looking. It’s very old. There are some shops around. I personally don’t think it’s worth visiting.

It is a shame that a gateway to the main public attraction of the city of Łódź and a natural link (through Park Staromiejski) to another major crowd-drawing attractions is allowed to be a shade of its former glory. Dirt, ruined buildings, cars-above-all-else, concrete everywhere - a mediocre monument and two buildings worth hanging your eye on won't save the day. The antithesis of contemporary urban planning. Crying for renovation and designing a space focused primarily on pedestrians.

Starting to show its age and needs a bit of renovation. The buildings around the square could do with a spruce up.

Good location to visit in Lodz and take some photos :) A few shops around the edge and of course the old buildings and statues are good to see.

Nice central square. Some lovely Elegant buildings and full of energy, hustle and bustle.
Not especially atmospheric though and far too busy and noisy to relax on. Not a bad spot but a lot of nicer places in Lodz.
