About
An attraction for tourists, a hangout for Łodz residents, heaven for gourmets and renowned brand lovers, a place full of life and positive energy - Manufaktura has very quickly become the city’s flagship, as recognisable as Piotrkowska Street. Today it is hard to picture Łodz without Manufaktura. With no beach in the summer, no kermis and ice rink in the winter, no concerts in the market square or tasty evenings in local restaurants. Manufaktura means: museums, cinema, theatre, a quarter of a thousand boutiques and stores, playgrounds for the youngest, fitness club, a few dozens restaurants and cafes. But its centre is the over 3 ha large Łodz Women Textile Workers Market Square, which serves as a friendly public space. Here cultural and entertainment events are organised, attracting both residents and tourists. Here the Europe’s longest fountain illuminates the darkness with colours and envelops superbly designed recreational areas in its murmur.

...yet I have to admit that both the quality of renovation of the old textile factory and the public space deserve recognition. Lots of outdoor fountains, attractions for children (springboards, enterntainers, a zip-line), cafes as well as gastronomy - with a a value proposal quite different compared to the Piotrkowska OFF. Basically complementary attractions. No wonder it's a rather crowded place.

One of the prettiest shopping centers in Poland. A perfect example of the revitalization of an old factory. It should be a must-visit for students of architecture. I definitely recommend visiting this place! Next to it, there is a magnificent palace of the owner of the factory, Mr. Poznański.

It is just a shopping center...ok,nice building but that's it...place to go out to eat, to buy...
it is very sad about Lodz,,, it used to be nice there,,, but since 90ties of the XX century thousands people just leave this city, especially young people escape to Warsaw or Wroclaw, Krakow...

Lodz is not on the beaten track for tourists. It is a down-at-heel city - out of tune with the dynamism of much of today's Poland - which long ago lost its lustre as a 19th century global textiles centre. Yet it has some attractions that make a stop worthwhile. One of them is Manufactura, the name given to a vast downtown area of old textile mills that have been restored and cleverly organized as a cultural centre, shopping mall and eating place. It has a rich summertime cultural programme. It is full of excellent restaurants of every description where you an eat good Polish fare, fast-food or oriental meals. And it is pleasant just to stroll around and imagine the hubbub of two centuries ago when weavers, seamstresses and traders made this a centre of European commerce.

Visually beautifully renovated textile factories turned into shops, restaurants, movie complex , super hotel, and a new mall attached to it.
The renovated factories are similar in concept to San Francisco's Ghirardeli square and the Cannery, and to Boston's Quincy market. Manufaktura's beauty and scale dwarf these.
Most shops in the mall are pretty with attractive prices. Most of the restaurants are apparently OK.
The night illumination is almost hauntingly beautiful.
Next to it is Poznanski's Palace - an amazing palace but by one if the wealthiest textile factory owners, now turned into Lodz's museum. WORTH a visit.

Manufactura is a mix of a shopping mall, art gallery and entertainment centre. Located in the city centre, it’s a brilliant result of a renovation of an old textile factory. This place is definately worth visiting (the architecture and red brick buildings look amazing) and you won’t be bored there.

We stayed 5 nights in the Andel's hotel that was a part of Manufaktura. Therefore we spent our time there every day to try from Polish cusine to Italian, Turkish and others. There are historical museum of Lodz that's worth to see. You can play the beach volleyball there as well. Highly recommended to go there.
