About
Welcome to the biggest science centre in Poland! Our main exhibition, "Energy conversion", is based on the historical infrastructure of the building, and is devoted to issues connected with generating electricity. Two other paths: "Development of knowledge and civilisation" and "Microworld – Macroworld" present selected concepts, laws, and physical and chemical phenomena. Due to the fact that some of the former installations and devices were preserved, combining them with modern forms of presentation will enable EC1's guests to learn in a totally unique way, unavailable elsewhere. Additional part of the Centre is spherical cinema, which presents fulldome movies connected to exhibitions in 2D and 3D technologies. All interactive content is available in Polish and English.

This is a great place for industrial climate lovers. It is amazing that it is built in renovated building of over 100 years old power plant, where you can still see remainings of old installations. Huge work put to renew the place and its climate was kept.
There is great and helpful staff that can answer all questions.
Place is similar to Copernicus Center in Warsaw, but is much better because contains this post-power plant part and also is less crowded. This is why it is much easier to get access to all science-related attractions. Tickets are also not too expensive.
Definitely worth visiting!

I had a good time in EC1. Really conveys heavy industry feel as per location itself. There's an admirable amount of interactive attractions. Topics go from quarks to quasars. What I found lacking was accessibility of knowledge, very technical descriptions at certain points made interesting things dull and hard to comprehend.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about the exhibitions at EC1. I went to the exhibitions with great desire, but the reality fell a little short of my expectations. First, I find the posters themselves to be of little interest to the visitor to read. As for the second exhibit I visited, it was interactive, but the whole thing seemed a bit short. What is a huge plus is the friendly staff who are willing to tell visitors about the exhibitions

If you like science you won’t want to miss this place. You can spend the whole day here if you want to. All exhibits had information in both Polish and English for all visitors. There were tons of exhibits about the energy plant and how it used to be here and how it created energy. There are also many exhibits about space and other science related information as well. All exhibits were hands on perfect for keeping my little ones fully entertained as well as myself. The 3-D movies was great and can also be translated into multiple languages. There is a small cafeteria if you get hungry. At the top of one of the cooling towers is a viewing platform where you can overlook the entire city of Łódź. The view was beautiful. Everybody that works here that we encountered was friendly and very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions of mine. A great place for anyone 2-102 years old. Definitely a place we will return to.

The science centre offers multiple 3D space themed educational movies, has a special “humans in space” exhibition where you can use the same treadmill that’s used in ISS, get suspended in a pneumatic system that simulates gravitation on the Moon, Mars and Ganimeda, and experience a VR space shuttle launch and docking at the ISS.
Even if You’re not into space stuff, there is multiple floors of exhibitions and simulators e.g. control a coal powered steam boiler and try not to blow up the factory.
Good visit for kids too, as there is a plethora of activities, and physics laws to see and touch. On our visit there was a lot of Star Wars themed fan made models around the facility.

At the reception desk we purchased tickets for the museum, the 3D cinema and the rooftop view point, which came to a grand total of about £6 per person ! At first we thought that it was going to be a very boring visit as we saw lots of huge industrial machinery on the lower levels, this soon changed as we entered the cinema where we had a very interesting and informative movie in 3D which lasted fir about 30 minutes. We then had to go up a few floors in the lift to the next time slotted attraction (time slot printed on ticket) this is when things got really interesting ! Taking a seat, seat belt fastened and virtual reality headset on, Wow ! I experienced a space shuttle launch, which was incredible ! Worth the entrance fee for this attraction alone ! There were then some other space related attractions ( i put on a harness and experienced what it would feel like to walk on the moon.... really interesting ! We then had another time slot for the final attraction which was taking a lift to the top of the cooling tower for 360 degree views over Lodz, it was a beautiful clear, sunny day and the views were amazing.
All in all we spent about 2 and a half hours at the science centre and it was the best £6 worth of entertainment ever !
