The hours posted are not accurate to when you can actually see the museum. We were told we can’t enter because there was no English tour today, we would’ve been willing to pay for the Polish tour just to go in and see the museum. However, the man working the front desk was rather rude and shut us out.

Good idea but average experience, a couple of rooms filled with objects historically used to maintain hygiene, with a tour guide commentary. Probably fun for the kids. This is absolutely not the best museum in Poland.

Quirky little museum and with a name that leaves no uncertainty about what you're going to get. It's pretty quick and you get to make your own soap as a souvenir. Not the best museum I've ever been but definitely worth an hour of your day.

A friend and I were in Bydgoszcz for a long weekend and we went in here not really knowing what to expect.
it is probably not the place to be for 10 boozy lads but well worth a visit for half an hour – it is a lot of fun (even for us two late 40 something blokes). The tour is very interesting and you get to make some soap! The tour lasts around 30 minutes and covers the history of soap and cleaning from Ancient Babylon times to modern day.
The young lady who showed us around spoke impeccable English and was an excellent guide.
As other people on here have said - it is well worth a visit!

I was looking for some interesting things to do with my kids in Bydgoszcz.
I searched the internet and I found that museum.
We love soaps so the museum was a must.
The ticket was only 39 zl for 4 of us and we were invited to wash our hand first. Then we went to a place were you could make your own soap.
My boys ( 5 & 6 yrs old) absolutely loved it.
You could choose a shape , a smell and colour. Great!
Then we were listening to the history of soap.
That guy with a beard and glasses is a huge asset to that place. Everything what he said was said in a very interesting manner. Great job.
We had so much fun.
Highly recommended!

I visited the museum a few months ago and I must admit that it was better than I thought. The staff was polite and there was a guided tour in English (as i don't speak Polish). And though sometimes I couldn't understand what the guide was saying it was generally good, interactive and interesting. The best part was that you get to make your own soap, combining different materials and flavours, which you take as a souvenir.

Tiny little museum best suited for families with young kids, you get a 30 min tour in English but you have to book ahead, get a little history of soap production in the town and in general. It was interesting.
We were sat at a tiny table I am guessing more suited to kids and then we made soap. I had to bite my lip to stop laughing, as I say my wife made us go. Take the kids.

I visited this museum by chance when visiting the city for a day trip, as it is situated on the backside street in the heart of the Old Town. There I could not only sightsee some interesting displays of how people took care of hygeine, but also take part in soap making workshops. That was great experience. I loved that the offer was dedicated to people of all age, so everyone could have chance to manufacture their own glycerine soap.
In this tiny place there is a shop, too, where You can buy for good money, high quality ecological body care products e.g. salt peeling.
To sum up, if You want to spend Your time with a difference just visit this place and let yourself feel clean.

I was surprised with my own reaction to this small museum. It was a really great visit ! We had a knowledgeable, eloquent and entertaining English language guide who made the whole experience fun and educational. The whole subject of this museum is unusual - dirt and soap history through the ages. You get to make your special soap during the workshop included in your ticket. In our group everybody had good time and learned a lot.
This is really a worthwhile destination.

This place works so well because it is such a personalised experience! We had a wonderful lady guide who was knowledgable, entertaining and had very good English.
Taking home as a souvenir, the soap we had made ourselves was the icing on the cake!
Suitable for all ages.
