A very charming square in the heart of the stare miasto (old town). The Town Hall occupies one side with bars, cafes and restaurants occupying most of the rest. It is a nice walk through that links Mill island with Ul.Gdanska and the new town.

Nice place for a walk - some old tenement houses, town hall, Monument to the struggle and martyrdom of the Bydgoszcz Region, unusual clock with Bydgoszcz time. Meeting place for many citizens. Some cafes and restaurants also located there.

The market has changed very positively. It used to be quite dusty and gray. Now it looks really nice and reflects the atmosphere of the city. I was surprised. There's still some renovation to do, but it's really good. Bydgoszcz is changing its opinion in my eyes.

Love the Old Market Square. It comes to life in the evenings, and during the daytime watch out for the pigeons as there are thousands of them.
The architecture of the buildings surrounding the square is really interesting and it is worth browsing around the square. The Tourist Information office also fronts onto the square and the staff there are really helpful if there is anything you need to know.

A very neat, attractive, colourful town square with a reasonable selection of bars and restaurants. Ideal to sit and spend a while watching the world go by. A reasonable selection of shops both on the square and neighbouring streets make a change from the pottery outlets around town

The market square is a nice place to eat, however Bydgoszcz is a pleasant enough place to visit if you are there on business but not as nice as other cities in Poland, such as Torun, Poznan, Warsaw, Krakow.

The old town with its town square is definitely the best part of Bydgoszcz. Lots of quaint little shops and cafes, narrow streets, museums. Interesting monument with a very sad history which should be seen and learnt about.

Probably under utilized.
This is a lovely square with lots of great history - except what happened here during the war years rip - and an opportunity from almost any cafe or bar to people watch or sit back and enjoy the tranquility!

Whether it's during the festival in August or February, the market square is lovely. There are several restaurants in the area that are quite delicious and very cheap. The buildings themselves are beautiful and worth a stroll.

We were at Stary Rynek last night to see in the new year. The old town square was wonderfully lit up all round the square and down to the bridge with the tight rope walker. I was impressed and it was nice to see. Plenty of restaurants and bars open at the normal prices.
In the main square was a large Christmas tree and the main stage next, to the fountain, where live bands were playing. The buildings around the square were lit up and you could see that an effort had been made. There were plenty of jolly people about without it being crushed.
We were impressed with the firework display, the only disappointment was that there was no shaking of hands and wishes of a good new year by people in your vicinity. Hopefully we will be back next year to shake some hands.
