This Church (inside) is one of the most impressive I have ever seen. My friend and I were speechless at the amount of Baroque art. Hard to believe this was built so long ago with the implements that would have been available at the time. We only had a few minutes there but could easily have spent up to an hour wandering around. Definitely worth a visit.

What a stunning baroque church. It is probably one of the most impressive I have seen in Europe and well worth a stop.

Do not miss this church. The indoor photography is incredible. We spent at least 30 minutes looking around at all the history. We thought this church was much more beautiful that any other church. Covered shoulders is required. The exterior is not much, but inside is wow.

The Jesuit order established itself in Breslau in the 1600s at the invitation of the Catholic Habsburg emperor. The Austrian dynasty was keen on countering Protestantism in central Europe. While successful in other parts, Breslau remained staunchly Protestant (until 1945) while at the same time allowing some freedom of religious expression. This late 17th century Jesuit church is a good example of how the Jesuits took advantage of this.

It represents everything Luther and his Protestant followers objected to: the worship of saints and idols, exuberant paintings and frescos covering not just part, but the whole ceiling, extravagant colors and decorations. For Luther it meant distraction from the word of God.

I visited the church during mass and must admit I heardly listened to the priest saying prayers and practicing rituals, being distracted indeed by the display of Baroque art. Impressive, but even at the time not enough to regain Catholic ground.

This church looks very ordinary from the outside. You will be pleasantly surprised when you go inside.
Has ear phones for a commentary on the history of the building

The University Church of the Blessed Name of Jesus, as the name suggests, this church belongs to the nearby complex of the University, and was founded during the 17th century by the Jesuits. With an impressive Baroque interior, it is considered one of the most impressive in all Central Europe.

While wandering around the evocative and majestic streets of Wrocław Old Town we chanced upon this most beautiful of churches and what an amazing looking church this is.
A beautiful Baroque church, considered to be one of the most beautiful churches not just Poland but in Central Europe.
Part of the university complex and built by the Jesuits in the late 17th century, this church has a wonderful interior, lots of great frescoes and details to catch the eye including a fantastic looking alter, lots of marble and gilt ,statue's, it really is a superb church to visit.
Entrance to the church is free but donations are suggested but are not obligatory .
University Church Of The Blessed Name Of Jesus is found on Pl.Uniwersytecki in an area of outstandingly beautiful architecture.
Well worth checking out.

From the outside is seems just a white church inserted in the university walls that also occlude the facade. The interior is impressive. Full baroque flying everywhere. Not a single wall or column are free from statues or paintings. Somebody do not like the baroque style, but this is such impressive that could appreciated anyway. Strange enough, there is a perfect copy of the Michelangelo's Piety statue just in front of the door, quite less crowded than the original in Rome..

This has to be the most impressive church interior in the city. The artwork on the walls and ceilings is beautiful. You could easily miss out because the exterior is comparatively plain. Definitely worth a visit
