We only saw the Town Hall from the outside but it was amazing. I love Gothic architecture and this was a definitely one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. I want to come back when we have more time and see the inside also.

The Old Town’s main square is absolutely beautiful. It has a food festival when we visited as well as a fair of local products and souvenirs (wood, linen, etc.). It is very full of life and pretty —hence the good reviews. But if this were to talk only about the Town Hall, as the title reads, I would say this is not worth it.
It currently holds an exhibition inside (Muzeum Miejskie Wroclawia) that just feels like a collection of a few random objects. No museographic efforts, no interesting information, nothing. Just a hall with chairs and a couple of rooms. By the way, that area was historically important because it was the place where trials were held, but it’s left to the imagination, instead of properly explained and interestingly presented.
The ONLY thing that saved this museum was that they had a temporary exhibition with the original paintings that were used in the 2017 movie Loving Vincent. Other than that, I would definitely not recommend paying the entrance ticket, as I don’t think it is worth it.

The Ratusz is a real jewel that enriches the central square. It is one of the most beautiful medieval civil constructions in this part of Europe. Today it is home to the Wrocław City Museum (Muzeum Miejskie Wrocławia) and cultural initiatives. The first building was built towards the end of the 13th century.

The building is magnificent, my low score is for the "museum" 15zl to see a few pieces of glass wear. Dont bother. Go to the Wroclaw city museum in the palace it's free of charge and excellent.

Wroclaw Town Hall is an impressive building that looks like a church or cathedral. It's situated in the centre of the city on the Rynek square. It has an interesting design, hosts a museums and one of the oldest bars in the city.

It's amazing that this historic building survived WW!! with only minimal damage. History would have cried. It's a beautiful piece of Gothic architecture going back centuries, sitting proudly at the center of the huge and absolutely gorgeous and picturesque Market Square. What we are looking at today dates back to the 15th century. Wikipedia will supply the whole history. Do read it to appreciate it!!!!
Nowadays the old Town Hall functions as a museum and is used as a venue for ad hoc exhibitions. For those looking for keep sakes there's a souvenir shop. Looking at the front alone will transport you back to medieval times. Such detail and such balance in architecture. It's a feast for the eyes.

When people who've never experienced "Old Europe" imagine it, this is what they imagine. The real deal. Brick for brick, among the most beautiful buildings in Poland.

This building is far more elaborate on the outside although a visit inside is interesting. There are 2 exhibitions currently, kerosene laps galore and glass.

My grandfather was born in the 1890s in Brislau. Is there any way to find out if there is any record of him? Birth certificate, ledger, etc. Thank you.

It is my understanding the public records for at least the region are located in the town hall. This was conveyed to me by a local tour guide the records of locations such as Mangersdorf were sent there post world war II for safe keeping and it is also my understanding that there are English speaking people available to assist with research. I am not sure how you can contact them. Hope this helps!
