Located in Cathedral Island where there are numerous churches, this large Church of the Holy Cross stands out because of its tall steeple and high walls. The church has 2 levels similar to St. Chapel in Paris. We were lucky as there was a service going on and were able to go up the stairs and walk in to see the inside. First thing I noticed straight ahead was a large mural copy of Michelangelo's Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. To the right was the nave with tall white columns and the red brick altar area with tall windows. Clean and not very ornate compared to the Cathedral just down the street. The lower section was darker and I did not continue inside. The most impressive sight is the massive monument to John of Nepomuk just outside the south side of church with his sculpture at the top.

The huge church, dating back to 1295, and built on two levels, is on the beautiful Cathedral island.

Huge and impressive church. As with all of the popular tourists spots in Wroclaw I'd recommend coming here first thing in the morning if you want to have it to yourself.

On two levels, the doors were open at the top of the stairs. A large textile wall covering can be observed through the locked gates. A lot of the surrounding buildings are associated with this church.

As your walking to the magnificent Cathedral Of St John The Baptist you pass what is arguably one of the most stunning churches in Wrocław namely Church Of The Holy Cross .
A beautiful looking church dominates the immediate area with its 70 metre high steeple .
Completed by 1295 ,the church has some serious history attached to it, we never had the opportunity to enter the church on our visit to Cathedral Island as the church was closed but we were suitably impressed with the facade which looks amazing, the huge impressive entrance looks fantastic and the mix of Gothic/ Baroque style architecture is awesome,it truelly is a fantastic church, out front of the church is the beautifully detailed monument to John Of Nepomuk which adds to the joy of visiting this church.
A beautiful church in a stunning location and most definitely well worth seeking out.

The Church of the Holy cross was the first church on the 2 levels from Silesia. Split over two levels, the building comprises the shorter windows of the Church of St. Bartholomew beneath the soaring windows of the upper level Church of the Holy Cross - unfortunately only the lower level is currently open.Standing outside the church is a large sculpture of John of Nepomuk dating from 1732. As of now no special time is allotted for visiting purposes, so sneak in during mass if you want to see it.
