At the square there are according to me most beautiful buildings in Wroclaw. Also here Christmas market takes place in the season but it is a bit less busy and one have more time to enjoy the beauty of architecture.

Just at the SW corner of Old Town Square you can see this smaller Solny Square. Not as many restaurants as the larger square, but it does have a few to choose from. The buildings are as colorful and you'll see some flower shops by the trees in the middle of the area.

A lovely square connected to the much larger main Market Square (Rynek). Unfortunately its big sibling is more imposing, but it's not less beautiful. It offers many of the same beautiful houses with the same pleasing pastel colors. This medieval square was the Salt market and goes back to medieval times (1242). Nowadays the square is famous for the many 24hr flower stalls, turning the center of the square in a regular flower garden any hour of the day or night. At it's center sits the "dragon fountain". It offers great photo opportunities with the colorful buildings as a backdrop. Next to the flower stalls, you can't miss it, stands the 96m (315ft) tall, but awesomely boring needlelike structure, the "Iglica".

Solny means salt in English and refers to the trading of salt at this place long time ago (mid 1200s). Later the square became an integral part of the city center. During WOII the Germans built an airraid shelter under the square which remains closed to the public. Nowadays flowers are being sold.
Remarkable: during the counter-reformation mid 1500s the Vatican sent an Inquisitor to Breslau to deal with the reformist heretics. His condemning sermons not only led to the burning of superfluous furniture and other items showing wealth, but also Jewish citizens were burned alive at the square. Does the small spire (flame monument) in the middle of Solny square commemorate them? There is no information board.

Today this is a flower market. It is lined with a hotel, shops and restaurants (check out Moaburger).
There are several dwarfs in and around this square.

My twin brother and I were exploring around the wonderful Old Town of Wrocław when we passed through Solny Square ( Plac Solny ) ,been here before on previous holidays to this cute little Polish city, its a square I really enjoy chilling out on.
This square is really pretty ,there's a famous flower market in the centre of the square complete with a fountain, the buildings around this square are so gorgeous to view and there's quite a few of the famous Wroclaw Dwarfs on this square, on the square is a cool looking monument called Small Iglica which is just so photogenic, I love some of the pubs and bars on this square, The Guinness Pub is superb, went here a few times on our five nights holiday, great guinness, also visited Kombinet Bar 3 times ,great meals and beers in this great locals bar ,all in all had a great time on Solny Square, a square I highly recommend you check out if you're in the area or planning a holiday to Wrocław.
