Wysoki Kamień is a mountain in Góry Izerskie mountain group, which stands right above the town of Szklarska Poręba, being one of most popular spot for walkers and hikers, possibly right after peaks in Karkonosze. What makes Wysoki Kamień special, is its 360 degrees panorama, which is possibly the best panorama in West Sudetes. Whole Karkonosze can bee seen from here, also Góry Izerskie, Góry Kaczawskie, and as far as Rudawy Janowickie are visible from here, provided the weather behives itself. Few years back private owners of the summit (that's something very rare in Poland) begun reconstruction work on a mountain hut, which stood here from mid 19th century, till 1963, when it wa demolished. This mountain hut is now fully restored, and a high stone viewing tower added. For some reason unexplained, on lovely warm weekend in may both those obiect were closed, and apparently these are closed permanently. But you don't have to climb the tower to see the views, these are available from any given spot on the top of Wysoki Kamień. Two major trails pass this place, red one Główny Szlak Sudecki - longest in Polish part of Sudetes, is on its last stretch, between Szklarska Poręba and Świeradów-Zdrój, while yellow one starts here, and leads to the village of Borowice, near Karpacz. As the north and south slopes are rather steep, be prepared to sweat out a lot, if hiking from Szklarska, unless you start from Zakręt Śmierci (The Death Curve), then the ascend should be a bit easier.

A great little walk. About 1.5 hrs up and 1 down but this was in heavy snow so you could probably halve these times.

A stunning location for a walk. We parked just East of Death Corner (Zakret Smierci) on the South side. Im not sure that you can drive any further in a private vehicle. Im not 100% on Polish traffic signs so I parked in a layby in the road.
We then started the gentle climb up. You get to a small wooden covered seating area to take a break if you need to. You take the sign here for Wysoki Kamien (a right fork in the path). It gets a little steep here and for the elderly it could be a problem. You keep going and you get to the lookout at the top. Here awaits a hot coffee, cool beer and warm welcome.

It was for us stunning scenery on the way up but sadly due to heavy snow the grand views were slightly diminished. However still a beautiful ascent and I would highly recommend.

After an average difficulty ascent along the red trail from Szklarska Poręba, you reach this wonderful vantage point - you can see the entire Szrenica range and much more from it. And on the spot, an exhausted wanderer can also eat a delicious apple pie :-)

The view point is good but nothing more. This place was built of stones. You can get there by car, but there is no running water, so there are no toilets. So you have to go to the forest as needed. You can eat dumplings or drink hot tea, but ... there are no toilets. Defeat!

Amazing place to see the panorama of Karkonosze Mountains.
The best time to go there is before all the people, I was there this time at 8am, and I was alone.
At the place is the small bar, where you can buy some drinks and food.

You need good strong comfy shoes for the walk up & down.

The view from the top is breathtaking & well worth the walk.
