Built in early 20th century, as a part of flood preventing scheme, designed after critical floods of 1897. The lake not only stops flood waves, but also stops rock rubble from going further down the stream, preventing it from damaging bridges and buildings in downtown Karpacz. Dam slightly arched towards the lake, which is rather unusual, with five culverts. Path on top of the dam links leafy parts of Karpacz with it's summer promenade, also a major red trail runs on top of the dam. Nice place, that's it.

The Dam has been dry for a few weeks now and the lake is drained. There is a small passage for the water purposely created to move off accumulated stream water but the lack of snow in the higher parts of the mountains coupled with some sort of repair project stopped the usual water flow. All the water birds moved away and the site is dead...

It is just a dam. The lake was pretty much dried now so it does not look so pretty anymore, still the size of the thing is impressive.

This dam is nothing special to look at but it is via a nice walk through gardens and light forest which is better than following the main road to town. There is a nice view down river below the dam and there are some animal sculptures in the park.

The Dam it self is small it is nice but the best bit is the walk through the wood's , it ok to push a pram through as the track is wide and flat
You can take some great pictures.

This is a nice place to visit while in Karpacz. Please note this is a pretty historical dam with mountains surrounding it. There's a restaurant where you can chill overlooking the dam.

The Dam on Lomnica is not really that impressive. The best part for me was the walk through the woods in the snow and the many sculptures you meet on the walk there. We walked from Olimpijska to the centre of Karpacz. I can certainly recommend this walk which will take you past the dam but more for the peace and quiet and absence of traffic. It is really not worth special effort to visit the dam.

Karpacz and Jelenia Góra area is very rich in dams, however most of them require an additional travel to visit, as they are located in quite remote areas. Dam on Lomnica is luckily an exception, as it is accessible by walk from the centre of Karpacz. It's one of the few not used to produce electricity. Very nice view from the top,
