If you're looking to experience the best of Karkonosze mountains in southwestern Poland, a hike to Śnieżka is a must!!
Dramatic landscapes, demanding trail, rewarding views, absolutely terrific experience, all of it guaranteed when you're scaling the highest peak of Karkonosze in Dolny Slask, Poland.
Sniezka (Polish), Sněžka (Czech), Schneekoppe (German) is the highest point of the Karkonosze (Giant) Mountains and the whole Sudetes 1602 m n.p.m. The summit is the highest point in the Czech Republic, in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in the Giant Mountains and in the entire Sudetes. At the top, they have an meteorological observatory, a post office with a view, cafe, and a souvenir shop. If you're up for something of that sort, just know that it's perfectly doable. Just be double sure about the weather in Karkonosze.

You can get two Chair lifts from Poland side but still a steep climb from them but when at top wow what a view on a clear day

It is a big shame that such fantastic designed mountain shelter is closed and deteriorated over time. Apart from that this place is too crowded with people ignoring social distance and obligation to wear masks. There is very nice view on Polish and Czech landscape. From both sides (Polish and Czech) one can use a cable lift but the one on Czech side is much better.

If you are fit, like hiking - take a scenic route from Karpacz (PL) to the top - it will take around up to 2,5 hrs depending on your pace... you may ease you way uphill by taking a ride with a chairlift (28 PLN one way, or 35 PLN both ways) to Kopa [http://kopa.com.pl] - more or less 2/3 way to Sniezka observatory.
For those who are not capable making a hike, take a ride to the same top from Czech side (http://www.snezkalanovka.cz/en/) from Pec (CZ).
I took combined approach - a chairlift Kopa (approx. 15 min) and about 1 hr slow pace hike to the top of Sniezka. It was very enjoyable trip, not very strenuous. At the summit you will be rewarded with magnificent views... and at observatory you may have a rest with a dinner or a snack (e.g. ice cream, wafers). PLN, CZK or EUR are accepted.
Until the first snow, you don't need any special climbing / hiking equipment. If you have a binocular don't forget to take it... On your way downhill don't use chairlift - you won't regret it.

The locals were very aloof to us tourists. We wanted to stock up for our hike. The locals seemed disinterested in helping us to point to nearest store. You could get lost in this hike.

After an almost 2,5 hours ascent from Karpacz by foot arrived at the top. The view is impressive, we could look almost 50 km into Czech Republic and Poland in the opposite direction. The top could see some levelling of the surface. The former main restaurant and view point is currently closed. However, there is a small shop supplying drinks, snack and souvenirs.

We started at Bialy Jar and finished at Wang. Hike was very nice and not really demanding. Most of it is a paved stone road. A bit hurting for the feet but very stable and safe.
We really enjoyed the views, weather and not so many crowds at this time of the year.

Definately worth doing when you are in Poland or Czech Rep. Beautiful vews all the way to the top. Note that this trail is overcrowded in weekends and holidays.

I took the chair lift to Kopa and climbed my way up the mountain following the more steep trail. Unfortunately, due to the summer season and increased popularity of Karpacz as a holiday destination, at times it felt more like queuing than hiking. Still, quite a workout.
I'd recommend using the trail round the peak to walk down as it's less steep and easier on your knees.

How can we approach from the Czech side?

There are trails starting from Pec pod Sněžkou, Špindlerův Mlýn and Horní Malá Úpa
