- Tom JLondon, United Kingdom1,577 contributionsAn Interesting Morning StrollHaving visited Plac Nowy on our first trip to Krakow in August 19 during a flea market I was determined to pop back on our long weekend. However this time we decided to visit on a Monday as there was no scheduled market and the experience was completely different. Quiet and vast there was not a single tourist in sight. Whilst the hustle and bustle of the market was fantastic last time, having a quiet place to stroll and admire was a welcome break from the main town square and certainly made admiring the area that much easier. There is plenty of intriguing architecture to admire in the area, and lots of small cafe's and other sights near by. Be sure to visit on a Saturday if you are wanting the upbeat flea market experience though!Visited January 2020Written January 25, 2020
- Neil KLiverpool, United Kingdom617,369 contributionsA must goThe New Square ( Plac Nowy ) is a must go destination for me and my twin brother Stephen on any trip to Krakow we take . Place Nowy is a square in the Kazimierz District ,the square dominated by a large round structure which contains many fast food outlets ranging from kiosk's serving zapiekanka which are the famous Polish pizza to Belgium fries and Turkish doner kebab meals ,this is a very popular destination for locals and tourists alike ,all around this square are lots of pubs, bars and restaurants ,it's a bit of a party square which I love to visit. We were here most days on our five days in Krakow,it's the beating heart of the Kazimierz District ,the food here is awesome ,we sampled zapiekanka every visit and went the fries kiosk called Fryki Belgijskie W Okraglaku ,fries here are amazing ,we also went The Doner House for a kebab ,totally delicious ,the pubs and bars around the square are equally as good ,we visited Zakaski I Wodka,Le Scanale Bar,Nowy Kraftowy,Pijalnia Wodki I Piwa Alchemia ,Les Couleurs Cafe,Komisariat ,Singer ,Plac Nowy 1,Sekta Selekta mSuperNowa Resto Music Bar over the duration of our five days holiday ,had a great time in this vibrant square and area, all in all it's a great square and area to visit if you're planning on visiting Krakow.Visited August 2022Traveled with friendsWritten August 7, 2022
- Stefanie HLincoln, Nebraska1,591 contributionsGritty placeThe square has a round building in the middle, which has windows where you can order food, including the zapiekanka (pizza). It is delicious; however, there's really nowhere to sit and eat, unless it's on the curb. There are also some stalls with souvenirs. The whole square is pretty gritty and dirty, and there was a group of people using drugs out in the open when we were there. I'm pretty tolerant, but I wouldn't go back.Visited June 2022Written July 15, 2022
- Janvanj7158 contributionsPlac Nowy is a great place to go!!!Plenty of bars around the square. Lots of seats outside to watch the world go by. Plenty of good option too when you’ve had enough to drink. Polish pizza is divine and less than £4 for a massive piece. We had ours cut into 2 pieces and that was enough. They have market stalls selling various items. Books, clothes, souvenirs etc etc.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 31, 2023

Much of modern delis of NYC owe to this place, but you cant really see that anymore in here. Used to be ages a go beating heart of jewish culinary heritage. Not that you would notice any of that visiting here today. Thats just depressing. - Veronica HLeicester, United Kingdom68 contributionsTry the ZapiekankaWe arrived fairly late in the evening in Krakow and went to the BeerGallery Kazimierz for a few drinks. We saw one of the staff eating something resembling a long pizza, and asked where he got it. He directed us to the round building down the road, and so we discovered Zapiekanka... My husband had Chicken from Hell (which was not too hot) and I had a Mountaineers with cheese and pickled cucumber. Both were very tasty and cheap (only 19 zloty in total), but be warned - they are huge!!Visited February 2014Traveled as a coupleWritten February 22, 2014

Nice flea market in Nowa Square, and please, don't miss in the central part of the square the little shop of zapiekanka, a typical polish open baguette with...everything you want!!!Visited December 2013Traveled as a coupleWritten January 25, 2014
- Tomek DardaKrakow, Poland125 contributionsBest night life in Kraków! Zapiekanka FTWThe New Square (Plac Nowy) in the centre of Kazimierz (Jewish District), also called Żydowski (The Jewish Square) by the locals does not look much on the first glance (badly needs renovation scheduled for 2014), especially during the day. But boy it comes alive at night, believe me! 16 bars, pubs, restaurants surrounding it and some over 100 on the adjacent streets, almost all of them very interesting and curious. Try legendary bars: Alchemia, Singer, my favourite with self-brewed beer Szynk (next to the Reformed Tempel Synagogue) and eat the traditional Polish snack: ZAPIEKANKA! Half of baguette with cheese, mushroom and any other addition, all baked is perfect way to line your stomach before going out for a drink. One zapiekanka is good enough for whole lunch. They sell them in the central, round building, formerly a ritual kosher slaughterhouse. For me, Plac Nowy beats the Main Market Square of Kraków in terms of genuine atmosphere during the night and during the day you might find yourself interested by the flee market. Don't miss it.Visited January 2014Traveled soloWritten January 17, 2014

There are still small houses where you can find mostly food and drink but also some other things. The prices are not extremely high and if you ask for advice you can try some very special local foods. The place has a very interesting athmosphera as some of the house around are already well renovated, as others are still almost ruins. This makes a special feeling on this square.Visited October 2019Written December 1, 2019

The New Square in my opinion is catagorically one of the best places in Krakow. Full of life, charm, great food, friendly locals and a brilliant atmosphere there really is something for everyone. The flea market presents some interesting way militaria and the local food stops in the centre providing "Polish Pizza" at a steal of a price is truly one to check off the list.
Great for a quick and tasty bite to eat, a little bit of shopping or maybe even some people watching....this square has it all without the mass tourist crowds of the main square.

We arrived Krakow late in the evening, it was hard to find supper. In the end we game to Nowy Plac, a square, where is a large round house in the middle. There is a lot of small kiosks selling food out. Also we found two barbecue kiosks. Found good sausages beefs and vegetables with sauerkraut barbecued outdoors . :-) worth visiting in my opinion.

I loved this place on the 1st visit. Great food, interesting things for sale in various stalls. However, our 2nd visit was on Sunday when all the good stuff was nowhere to be seen but replaced by second-hand clothes and shoes.
Fantastic atmosphere.
Fantastic atmosphere.
