Plenty of bars around the square. Lots of seats outside to watch the world go by. Plenty of good option too when you’ve had enough to drink. Polish pizza is divine and less than £4 for a massive piece. We had ours cut into 2 pieces and that was enough. They have market stalls selling various items. Books, clothes, souvenirs etc etc.

Covid-times have done hard for this place. Much of modern delis of NYC owe to this place, but you cant really see that anymore in here. Used to be ages a go beating heart of jewish culinary heritage. Not that you would notice any of that visiting here today.

Thats just depressing. But go - go and spend a dime for the sake of better days to come.

A place to visit for the local market stalls. They sell fabulous filled baguette style bread for lunch. Very popular.

We arrived fairly late in the evening in Krakow and went to the BeerGallery Kazimierz for a few drinks. We saw one of the staff eating something resembling a long pizza, and asked where he got it. He directed us to the round building down the road, and so we discovered Zapiekanka... My husband had Chicken from Hell (which was not too hot) and I had a Mountaineers with cheese and pickled cucumber. Both were very tasty and cheap (only 19 zloty in total), but be warned - they are huge!!

We had a walk around the Jewish district in the morning, we went to Sinagogue and Jewish cemetery, and it was very striking. Nice flea market in Nowa Square, and please, don't miss in the central part of the square the little shop of zapiekanka, a typical polish open baguette with...everything you want!!!

The New Square (Plac Nowy) in the centre of Kazimierz (Jewish District), also called Żydowski (The Jewish Square) by the locals does not look much on the first glance (badly needs renovation scheduled for 2014), especially during the day. But boy it comes alive at night, believe me!

16 bars, pubs, restaurants surrounding it and some over 100 on the adjacent streets, almost all of them very interesting and curious. Try legendary bars: Alchemia, Singer, my favourite with self-brewed beer Szynk (next to the Reformed Tempel Synagogue) and eat the traditional Polish snack: ZAPIEKANKA! Half of baguette with cheese, mushroom and any other addition, all baked is perfect way to line your stomach before going out for a drink. One zapiekanka is good enough for whole lunch. They sell them in the central, round building, formerly a ritual kosher slaughterhouse.

For me, Plac Nowy beats the Main Market Square of Kraków in terms of genuine atmosphere during the night and during the day you might find yourself interested by the flee market.

Don't miss it.

It is the old market square of the jewish corner. There are still small houses where you can find mostly food and drink but also some other things. The prices are not extremely high and if you ask for advice you can try some very special local foods.

The place has a very interesting athmosphera as some of the house around are already well renovated, as others are still almost ruins. This makes a special feeling on this square.

The New Square in my opinion is catagorically one of the best places in Krakow. Full of life, charm, great food, friendly locals and a brilliant atmosphere there really is something for everyone. The flea market presents some interesting way militaria and the local food stops in the centre providing "Polish Pizza" at a steal of a price is truly one to check off the list.

Great for a quick and tasty bite to eat, a little bit of shopping or maybe even some people watching....this square has it all without the mass tourist crowds of the main square.

We arrived Krakow late in the evening, it was hard to find supper. In the end we game to Nowy Plac, a square, where is a large round house in the middle. There is a lot of small kiosks selling food out. Also we found two barbecue kiosks. Found good sausages beefs and vegetables with sauerkraut barbecued outdoors . :-) worth visiting in my opinion.

I loved this place on the 1st visit. Great food, interesting things for sale in various stalls. However, our 2nd visit was on Sunday when all the good stuff was nowhere to be seen but replaced by second-hand clothes and shoes.
Fantastic atmosphere.
