We went here for the view and lunch due to reviews I read on tripadvisor. So glad we did. We were staying at Andels hotel in Krakow so we took a taxi here and then called for one when we were ready to leave. It is about a 15 minute ride to this castle. It is not a castle to tour as it is used more as a civic area/education building now-there was a child's dance/movement class going on while we were there in the main lobby. You go downstairs to the restaurant which is very mod 70's style to me-very cute with a nice bar. It was a beautiful day when we were there about 2 weeks ago with a nice breeze so there was not a single person eating inside. There is an upper and lower balcony outside with table service. The lower balcony was my preference as each table has it's own archway so you feel like you have your own private window with a view, definitely makes you feel more like you are dining at a castle. The upper balcony was a normal open railing. We could see for miles and miles and it was so serene and calming just sitting in the castle setting and looking out over the rolling hills and river. The service and food were both excellent. Nice presentation and cooked to our preference. My husband started with a French onion soup which was not a beef broth base like we are use to but a much lighter base which was different but fabulous. He and our younger son had pork medallions with bacon wrap and our other son had beef fillet-all said they were tender and very good. I had a wild mushroom soup in a beautiful bread bowl, a vegetable medley in puff pasty and we all shared some creamed spinach and grilled vegetables...my mouth is watering now thinking about it. Don't go here expecting a castle tour, go to Wawel for that, come here for a relaxed afternoon, the amazing view and a wonderful meal. Small children may be bored here with a leisurely lunch, our boys are 18 and 20 and enjoyed it immensely as my husband and I did. Would definitely go back here on our next visit.

There is not only one castle in Kraków it seems :)

Przegorzały Castle, build during WW2 by the Germans as Schloss Wartenberg - a "watchtower hill" with nearby pre-war villa of Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz (stylised as medieval tower), renowned Polish architect form a surprisingly (given the Nazi German occupation history and SS stay here) very picturesque combination.

Not far away you will find the mass murder site of Glinik, where Nazis killed some 2000 Poles, mostly resistance members and intelligentsia (teachers, professors, artists). Ask your tour guide for more history.

You can view it from the bike route along Wisła River to Tyniec Benedictine Abbey (best side-trip of Kraków) or you may go up the hill for the great, romantic views (including Tatra Mountains on a clear day) and surprise surprise, brilliant, one and only Kurdish restaurant, U Ziyada, great place for dinner or even a wedding :)

It's an option for all those who have more than 3-4 days in Kraków and liek venturing less known, but no less historic and charming areas. To get there by public transportation take bus no 409 from the "Cracovia" stadium stop, which itself is located some 15 minutes away on foot from Rynek (Main Square).

The castle is located on the hill and provides a great view of the Kraków city. It's located more in the outskirts of town so you need to have some kind of transport to get there: like bicycle or car. Taxi is always a good alternative and costs around 4-6EUR from the city center depending on the taxi company. There is a public transport going there as well but it isn't that frequent.
There is university and restaurant located in the palace. The restaurant serves great food so you can enjoy lovely meal and great food at the same time.

I consider Przegorzaly Castle to offer one of top 3 views Krakow can offer. It's hidden gem - living here for 30 years this is the place when I take visitors to.
Good restarant food too. Grab a coffee and enjoy the view! If you are lucky, Tatra mountains might be visible.

Nice 'castle' perched on a hill above the Wisla River with a nice café and restaurant inside. We walked through the forest from both mounds and ended up in Przegorzaly for a meal before catching a bus back to the city center. Great views above the river and nice food and coffee inside. Seems to be a popular place with Poles, there were no other foreigners there, probably being as it is off the beaten path. Check it out. I heard you can actually catch a ferry at the bottom back to the city in the summer for a nice ride on the river.

This place will feel in your memory like an unforgettable experience. The "Castle" and adjacent "Bastion" are some of Krakow's historic structures. You can use public transportation to get here. The history of the place is fascinating . What is now known as the "Bastion" was built by the Polish Art Historian Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz as his own residence in the 1920s. Occupying Nazis called the complex "Schloss Wartenberg" and it housed the headquaters for Governor-General Hans Frank. Currently the castle is part of the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University and is known for its great restaurant . The view from the castle and restaurant balconies is FANTASTIC. This romantic place is a worthy destination even in the city so rich in attractions like Krakow.

It is good place for a dessert with fantastic view on Krakow Town. The only issue was with coffee latte- we ordered for a coffee with hazelnut syrup but we got the one without it. Waiter forgot about it.

A short bus ride on the edge of Krakow, worth seeing for the beautiful views. There is a restaurant with seating in a balcony and terrace around the castle where you can have a meal or just tea/coffee/cake and relax looking out over the scenery.
