The house is beautiful inside, filled with furniture, painting, and variously collections of Jan Matejko. It was interesting to see but the museum lacks an audio or a personal guide and there aren't many descriptions. We asked the room attendees but I dont think they spoke any other languages but Polish. Overall I enjoyed my visit and i would recommend it.

Hard to locate as not much of a sign but well worth a visit if you have an hour to spare. Go for the lovely portraits Jan Matjko painted but also for the house. He lived here most of his life and there's quite a lot of original and quite amazing old furniture. He also collected religious robes and torture equipment and that's on display.

Small museum devoted to artist. Unless familiar with artist, not worth a visit. Three floors with steep steps, however bathroom available.

At the Stained Glass museum, my friend and I learned about Matejko so when I learned that he had a museum I wanted to go. My friend bowed out but I headed there and was pleasantly surprised that the museum was free. The museum is on three floors of the house that The artist was born in and then later bought from his siblings. The first floor is his home. The second has part of his paintings and the third floor held his studio and part of his private collection of historic memorabilia. The museum is well laid out and most stuff was in both Polish and English. I learned a lot and have a new appreciation for this Polish Painter.

Wonderful museum - ex house - of the talented painter Jan Matejko. This is where he was born and also where he died - you can visit all the rooms of the house. My fav was his room where he worked + his daughters room that has the painted cieling blue with yellow stars, as the sky, as the model of the St. Mary church, which he did :) You need to have time for it as it had a lot of things to see and the house has 3 floors. Not to worry the museum is in the city center so you can get everywhere in time ;) I also truly liked the paintings and I recommend taking some time for that...

One does not have to be an art lover to enjoy this small museum dedicated to Poland's leading artist of 19th century which is housed on the building where he was born and also where he died. Very interesting artefacts collected during his travels as well as the artist's own works both in pencil and paint. Deserves wider recognition.

Walking down Ulica Florianska arguably one of the most beautiful streets in Krakow I passed this museum dedicated to Jan Alojzy Matejko, this most renowned of Polish painters has some of his works hanging in St Mary's Basilica, his most famous works are his grand Battle Of Grunwald and Union Of Lublin ,the building itself is amazing, the facade is gorgeous, it's very pleasing on the eye and adds to the joy of walking down Ulica Florianska.

Jan Matejko was living in this house on the Floianska street. The museum doesn't show too much of his works, more from his personal belongingd.

Walking down Ulica Florianska is one of the joys of any holiday i take to this most beautiful of cities, packed with great pubs ,bars ,restaurants and some amazing architecture and House Of Jan Matejko is one such beautiful building found along this famously popular tourist stretch.
The house is the museum to Jan Alojzy Matejko, a Polish painter, a painter who specialized in grand paintings such as Union Of Lublin or Battle Of Grunwald, there's also a gallery of portraits of Polish kings and murals in St Mary's Basilica by this renowned artist.
We never ventured into the museum but I did stop and admire this wonderful brown stone building that stood out to me on this beautiful street,I really liked the facade ,took a few photos before moving on to St Florians Gate.
Easy to locate on Ulica Florianska and most definitely well worth checking out.
