- Neil KLiverpool, United Kingdom616,526 contributionsBeautiful synagogue along MiodowaI love walking around the beautiful Kazimierz District of Krakow,it's an exciting and historic area ,so much to see ,so much to take in and so much to enjoy ,walking down Miodowa you come to Tempel Synagogue ,a really historic place of worship. The synagogue is historic ,it's over 150 years old ,it's not the age that makes me marvel at this synagogue but the fact it survived the German Army occupation when all vestiges of the Jewish faith were more or less destroyed ,the interior is really impressive and is well worth checking out ,a donation is requested to enter this synagogue ,it's only a small fee and I can see why previous reviewers find this abhorrent , I also believe all places of worship should be free to enter but it is what it is . The exterior is a little dour but has a beautiful faded elegance to it ,all in all it's an amazing and fascinating synagogue to check out and easy to locate in the Kazimierz District on a street called Miodowa.Visited August 2022Traveled with friendsWritten August 7, 2022
- Pernille ICopenhagen, Denmark4,857 contributionsOne of the most beautiful synagogues of the cityThe Tempel synagogue is one of 7 synagogues in Krakow; and still serves but only for a few services a year. Mainly it is being used as a venue for concert and cultural festivals. The exterior is in a Moorish style reminiscent of the great synagogue of Budapest, and it is placed in the same way on a pointed square between 2 streets. The interior is finely decorated with a golden ceiling, a bima and stained glass windows including the names of the donators from the community. It is definitely lavish and extravagant and a must-see visit on the tour of the Krakow synagogues. The entrance fee is 10 PLN (2 EUR) which also helps to keep renovations going after the synagogue was badly damaged during the war.Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten April 18, 2023
- Travelingjohn123Peterlee, United Kingdom2,389 contributionsFees for churches, mosques, synagogues - NOWe went to visit this site but we’re disappointed by a request for payment from a gatekeeper on the door. I don’t agree with paying to visit churches, mosques, synagogues etc and so we didn’t visit. Bit of a shame as it looked nice from outside.Visited November 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten November 27, 2021

The Kazimierz district ( Jewish Quarter ) is one of the most exciting district's of Krakow, for the nightlife it's a fantastic fun area and for wonderful site's such as THE REFORMED TEMPLE SYNAGOGUE and many many more.
I love to wander around area's like this one and this is were we came across this wonderful synagogue.
It does'nt look much from the outside but venture in and you will be blown away by the stained glass window's,ornate gold etching and lovely interior ,it really is a gem and located very close to quite a few synagogue's but to me this was the stand out one.
From Sunday to Friday ( 10am till 4pm) you can pop in and have a good look around but be discreet as it's an active synagogue.
Very easy to locate on the corner of MIODOWA and POSBRZEZIE.
A great location to visit, dont forget the camera.

This is the only Progressive Synagogue in the Jewish District. It was completely restored about 15 years ago and is still an active place of worship. Excluding the Great Synagogue, which is basically a museum now, it was the largest synagogue we saw and also in the best condition. The other ones were currently under renovation. Beautiful coloring on the inside as well as stained glass windows. 10 zt donation to enter.

This is an active synagogue in the heart of Kazimerz (Krakow Jewish Quarter). It is beautifully restored with a unique Torah ark area than actually creates a space behind it - as was the case when the Hebrews walked Sinai. It is directly adjacent to the Jewish Community Center.

Up until my visit, I had thought I had seen everything that there is to see in Krakow. But Tempel is a must.
Definitely the most charming of Kazimierz district's synagogues, and an active one. It looks pretty average from outside, but the inside is full of decorative patterns on the walls and the ceiling, as well as stained glass windows.
A great place to experience living Jewish traditions.

Visited so many beautiful cathedrals in Krakow that were free admission and was disappointed to have to pay to get in here especially when we got inside and there was so much construction going on obstructing the views.

Place is a tax rip off - they demand donation and even have a price list !
I am Jew from Israel and traveling all over the world and was never demanded to provide donations- if it is an entrance ticket it should be clear- but this is ugly way to avoid taxes !!!

Really nice synagogue with beautiful decoration. Worth to visit. Entrance could be free, but fee for everything is specialty of Poland. There were no other tourists, so we could enjoy the interior in private.
