Certainly the most beautiful of Krakow's synagogues, it was built in the mid-19th century, when the city was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Built in the Kazimierz Jewish neighborhood as a tribute to the Association of Progressive Israelites, services were held in Polish and German and, when the liturgies were "modernized", Orthodox Jews began to protest. Interior restored in oriental-Mauritanian style; the glass windows are valuable

Although viewed only from the outside, it is still interesting with its Neo-Renaissance architecture and history. The synagogue was a place of worship of progressive Judaism, which assumed cultural assimilation and a departure from strict observance of the rules applicable to Jews (kosher, observing the Sabbath). At the back of the building there is a mikveh and the Jewish Community Center.

The Kazimierz district ( Jewish Quarter ) is one of the most exciting district's of Krakow, for the nightlife it's a fantastic fun area and for wonderful site's such as THE REFORMED TEMPLE SYNAGOGUE and many many more.
I love to wander around area's like this one and this is were we came across this wonderful synagogue.
It does'nt look much from the outside but venture in and you will be blown away by the stained glass window's,ornate gold etching and lovely interior ,it really is a gem and located very close to quite a few synagogue's but to me this was the stand out one.
From Sunday to Friday ( 10am till 4pm) you can pop in and have a good look around but be discreet as it's an active synagogue.
Very easy to locate on the corner of MIODOWA and POSBRZEZIE.
A great location to visit, dont forget the camera.

This is the only Progressive Synagogue in the Jewish District. It was completely restored about 15 years ago and is still an active place of worship. Excluding the Great Synagogue, which is basically a museum now, it was the largest synagogue we saw and also in the best condition. The other ones were currently under renovation. Beautiful coloring on the inside as well as stained glass windows. 10 zt donation to enter.

This is an active synagogue in the heart of Kazimerz (Krakow Jewish Quarter). It is beautifully restored with a unique Torah ark area than actually creates a space behind it - as was the case when the Hebrews walked Sinai. It is directly adjacent to the Jewish Community Center.

Up until my visit, I had thought I had seen everything that there is to see in Krakow. But Tempel is a must.
Definitely the most charming of Kazimierz district's synagogues, and an active one. It looks pretty average from outside, but the inside is full of decorative patterns on the walls and the ceiling, as well as stained glass windows.
A great place to experience living Jewish traditions.

My favourite destination on any holiday I take to the fascinating city of Krakow is the wonderful Kazimierz district ( Jewish Quarter) ,this area has a faded elegance to it ,I love the architecture here ,one of the standout buildings is The Temple Synagogue.
The Temple Synagogue is one of the oldest of the seven surviving synagogues in Krakow being well over 150 years old,it's beautiful both externally and internally, I love the fact it survived the German occupation of World War Two when nearly all vestiges of the Jewish faith were destroyed,a true survivor ,its 10 Złoty to enter ,this is used for the upkeep of this beautiful synagogue ,if you're in the Kazimierz district its most definitely well worth checking out and easy to locate along Miodowa.

Visited so many beautiful cathedrals in Krakow that were free admission and was disappointed to have to pay to get in here especially when we got inside and there was so much construction going on obstructing the views.
